My GAIM and my Trillian are dead! Woe is me! (Woe is I?) Anyway, what's your favorite AIM client? I need a new one.

I use AIM and that works just fine. But you're afraid of AIM. Dori recommends Adium (which is for Mac).

Yeah, I recommended Adium (to myself), but unfortunately, I'm too poor to buy a Mac.

Is AIM not packaged with adware and viri and bugs and TELL THIS GIRL IF SHE'S HOT and DOWNLOAD THIS PROGRAM THAT WILL TELL YOU THE WEATHER and stuff?

Um, nope, there are ads, but you can disable those if you download a free plug-in like palfun or the like. Make sure that you don't install wildtangent if it asks you to, and install an ad blocker to get rid of the ad at the top of your buddylist and AIM's quite bearable indeed. People exaggerate how bad it is quite a bit.

The other thing is that if I download AIM, I'll have to download MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger and all those other things. It'll be very irritating.

And I don't know about exaggerating. That sounds like a lot of things to download to make one program bearable.

Why do you have to download all those other programs if you download AIM? I don't understand.

Have you tried reinstalling those programs?

In order to talk to people who aren't on AIM...

I reinstalled Trillian about 15 times, with no result. I should try reinstalling Gaim.

Uh, you don't have to download those programs... unless you have a lot of people you talk to on those services. But that's not AIM's fault at all, Anisa.

I'm not faulting AIM, I'm just saying another reason why I don't want to download it.
