For Ashley and one of her Characters!

Naia sat in a public area of the castle, watching people and ocassionally doodling in her notebook. She had a little comic strip of nonsequitor stick figures. They were doing rediculous things, like making each other float.

Amorisa walked down the halls, an apple in one hand and a book in the other. She had a lot on her mind as of late. She almost passed Naia by, but halted when she saw her beloved cousin, and smiled widely "Naia!" she plopped down next to her cousin and hugged her tightly. "How are you lovely girl?"

Naia looked up and smiled. "I'm fine, how about you, beautiful?" she grinned. Her cousin was really a very pretty girl, and sometimes Naia got the feeling she didn't realize it herself. Naia bent to study her drawings briefly, and then pulled her wand out of a pocket and charmed it so that the little wand line sparkled, imitating magic.

Amorisa sighed and rested head on Naia's shoulder. "I'm alright. I'm taking things one day at a time and all that jazz" she said with a grin. Looking at the doodles she smiled, "draw me one sometime?"

Naia used the hand holding her pen to pat Amorisa's head, careful not to get any ink on the girl. She wished that Amorisa would get back into the swing of things, get back to loving life... so Naia turned the page and said, 'How about right now?'

She drew a little stick figure girl with a skirt and a crown in the upper left hand corner of the paper. She pulled out a marker, and colored the skirt pink and the crown yellow. 'This is Princess Risa.' Naia was getting ready to tell a whole doodly story to her only younger cousin.

Amorisa grinned and tossed back her hair elegantly "I always new my greatness would be reconized and a title given to me," she said giggling and hugging Naia to her. "So tell me, what does Princesss 'Risa rule over?" she said with a grin

'Well, first of all, Princess Risa has a castle.' Naia drew a little castle, sterotypically 2D by the little stick figure of the princess. The castle was as big as she was. 'She also has a pet dragon' Naia drew a dragon-lizard thing, on the other side of the castle from where Princess Risa was, two times the size of the girl and the building. She colored it green, made it breathe fire, and charmed the flames to go in and out of the dragon's mouth.

Amorisa grinned, far more amused then she should be. "Dude, my own castle and my pet dragon? I rock!" she grinned, totally interested in the drawing. She couldn't draw well herself, so this was amusing her greatly

"Yes, Princess Risa does rock, pretty hard core," said Naia in a concilitory tone. She was trying not to laugh. "Anyway, Princess Risa is turning 14 and she has to choose her future betrothed." Naia drew a line of boy stick figures along the bottom edge of the paper. "But the dragon doesn't like that." Naia drew a line of fire across the middle of the page. "All the dashing princes must prove their love of Princess Risa by getting to her."

"Awww," Amorisa gushed. She totally felt like a litte childin a sense having a story told to her, even though she was 14, but she was enjoying this far to much. "The dragon sounds like it totally kicks ass, and of course, so do the princely guys"

Naia didn't think of it as childish in the least. Every once in a while it was good to tell a story, or to hear one, and what was the harm in having fun? Naia pointed with her pen to the first of the six stick figures on the bottom of the sheet. She printed a name under him. 'This is Prince Bob,' she explained. 'Prince Bob knows that he can get to Princess 'Risa, because he has a paper boat to float across the river of fire.' Naia drew a little orgami boat on the side of the river closest to the princes. 'He knows it will work because he's covered it with wax.' Naia drew an arrow across the line of fire. 'What do you think happened to him?'

Amorisa grinned and waved at the picture a little sullenly "bye bye Bob," she let out a dramatic sigh "I'm losing men left and right," she grinned "which princely stud is next? The Dragon has to be named Colin right? To keep killing off all my men"

"You'd have to ask Princess Risa the name of her pet dragon." Naia looked very seriously at the paper. "What's your pet's name, Risa?" Naia drew a little speech bubble and wrote Colin in it. "Guess so!" She moved her hand down the paper and used her pen to point back at the little paper boat.

"Anyway. Bob made it about half way across the river of fire before his wax melted and the whole thing lit up like a candle." Naia made a bigger flame over the arrow crossing the river of fire. "Bob's eyebrows got singed and he went back to where he came." Naia drew a unibrow on the stick figure and then and arrow showing his exit stage left.

"What's the name of this next prince?"

Amorisa was getting more and more amused by this by the second. This was great! She smiled and rested her head on Naia's shoulder as she thought of a new name for the next prince. "Hmmm...how about...James?"

Naia labeled the next prince James. "Well, James is a bit smarter than his second cousin twice removed with a half back twist. All princes are related, you see." Naia nodded, smiling.

She bit her lip for a moment. "James built a bridge. He comissioned the finest metal from his black smiths and they made steps and built a suspension bridge."

Naia drew a little drawing of what might be the Brooklyn Bridge over the river of fire. "Unfortunately," she said, as she drew the little arrow indicating James' attempt to cross, "the metal was a bit warm and he burned the shoes right off his feet." She drew little bandages on the feet of the stick figure, and made an unhappy face.

"Awww," Amorisa sighed dramatically. "Prince James was really quite handsome too. I guess this dragon doesnt want Princess Risa's happiness." She grinned, "So whats the next Prince going to do?"

'This is Prince Peter.' Naia labeled the prince appropriately, like the other two. 'Prince Peter has two friends named Orville and Wilbur. They built him a flying machine like Icarus!'

Naia drew a little hang glider type situation on the space between the Princes and fire. She drew a little dotted line from the machine over the fire. 'Icarus got too close to the sun, you know? Well, Prince Peter got too low to the ground.'
