(no subject)
Friday we saw Stuart starring as Koko in the Mikado! I'd never seen the Mikado before, so I wasn't sure what I was in for, but it was very fun! And Stuart was amazing. I just can't get over it! If this was just a one time thing because he loves the musical, it will be a loss to the theater community. (On the other hand, I'd like to hang out with him again! He's been so busy lately!)
Anyway, it was super fun, and we took up an entire row+!
Also, I finished my sister's Ophelia cardigan. It looks pretty good! I just hope that it fits her ok. She had fit problems with her original one. This is a super-fast knit, even though you couldn't tell that from the amount of time I took on it. I knit it basically one and a half times (one half for me, then I pulled it all out and knit it for her), and I keep getting distracted by other things. I picked out a pretty green ribbon with pink flowers to tie it with. I really wanted to use a pink button much like the green one I settled for, but figured she'd revolt at that much pink. I hope she likes it! (Now I just have to finish Alex's cowl, so I can mail them together. I know that means that I owe Eric and Jojo something, but they're going to have to wait until my knitting schedule opens up again, in about September.)
There are five weekends until MTAC. I just started the cosplay creations this weekend. We'll see how it goes! (Why do I always wait so long?)
This year's cosplays:
Seven Seas Treasure (Shugo Chara): Coat outer fabric cut out. Nope, no lining or interfacing cut out, yet. Oh, and I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to add the collar and closures, but I need to figure that out before I start sewing. I've got all the pieces for the key, but haven't put them together, yet. I've got appropriate pants (I think) and need to check on my boots and see if they're still wearable after years of neglect. I have GRAND PLANS for the hat & ear, but still need to acquire bits for that. Still to get - white shirt, wig, sword, gloves.
Kendappa (RG Veda): Underclothes fabric cut out. Again, no lining or interfacing, yet. Although I have those, I just didn't get to that point. I have the sari material, although it's just from Joann, it's gorgeous. I haven't even started on her jewelry, and I just realized that I picked up the wrong color stones at the store last night. Looks like I'll be going out again soon! I have passable shoes, although I would like to try to find a pair that matches the sari better. And I need the wig and glove.
Maka (Soul Eater): I ordered this coat this weekend, on the justification that it will also be my winter coat next year, although I'm not throwing out my current coat just yet. I will add the big buttons and cuffs to that. I have a passable white blouse, although it doesn't have the puffed sleeves. If you know where I can find one, tell me! I have the yarn for the yellow vest. What? I made Ford Prefect's vest in a month, surely I can finish this one on time? I have a bid on an ebayed skirt, but if you're out and see one reasonably priced, please tell me! (I am looking for one a bit longer than what she wears -- 14" at the shortest) I have the gloves, and boots that I will belt up somehow... and I am trying to grow my hair out until May so I can dye it Maka colored. The other option is to cut it short like Seven Seas Treasure and dye it blue, and get a wig for Maka. I'm debating.
Souma (Rg Veda): Um. Yeah. I have the fang for her earring? I need to corral Alison at some point and measure the heck out of her!
