Dan! Parties! LARPs! Locopops!
This weekend was busy! Dan was in town! I obviously didn't squee about that enough, because no one realized it! So, belated squeeing! THE Dan was in town! He came to my birthday party! He is thinking seriouslyseriously about moving out in October! We looked at car sites & apartment sites! YAY! (He's actually still here for another hour and a half, but I am back at work, unfortunately :( )
So, he came in late on Friday, but it was still early enough that we could make it to see Wall-E at the theater! That was a good movie! There was a punch-bot, and problems were solved by shooting things! Very fun.
Ok, it gets ridiculously long from here, so I'm going to cut for your pleasure.
Then, Saturday was the Pony Party! It was kind of a belated birthday party, but really I just wanted to decorate the new blank ponies :) It was super super fun. Eric got up ridiculously early to smoke a turkey breast and pork shoulder for yummy sandwiches, and made homemade french fries. Yum! I made a cake that was basically a white cake, but SO MUCH BETTER than any white cake I've made before. It was a bit more complicated than dumping the mix in the bowl, but so worth it! Also, it used swiss buttercream, which I've always been nervous about, but which turned out great! Dorie makes everything easy, yes? So, continuing on that theme, I also made a cherry cobbler from her recipe. It was very funny, because I was pitting & halving cherries while Eric left a program about serial killers on the tv. I looked like one with all the cherry juice *everywhere*!
Then people showed up! And we ate! And decorated ponies! And played Rock Band! And it was so ridiculously fun, you just don't know. Why don't we have more open craft days? Everyone is so talented! All the ponies were great! (Except Will's was just creepy. CREEPY!) (But great!)
So, I try not to talk about gaming much here, because I know I lose most of my audience, but the Vampire larp was that evening, and it was so fun! Not just because I'd been up since 5:30, I'm sure! Um. And now that I think of it, it's probably only funny if you're in the game, so I'll just say that my character died (Well, she's not actually dead, yet)! In about the funniest way ever if you're trying to smear the Invictus. Well, if I've got to die, might as well start a war, right? Anyway, Eric decided to make a character, and even Dan admitted that it's not one of "those" larps. It was so fun! I was pretty dead by the end of it, though :)
On Sunday, we got up & went to Gypsy's Shiny Diner for breakfast, which was awesome, and then the boys wanted to go to Chapel Hill Comics. So, we got online, and I checked for Locopops stores in Chapel Hill, and there's one down the street from the shop! So, of course we went to both. I need to know more exciting things in Chapel Hill (they seemed unimpressed at the chance to go to a fabulous fabric shop) so that it's not just a two-stop trip next time.
Then we came home & watched tv and the cats. I know it was boring, but, let's face it, if he moves down here, that's probably what he'll do on Sundays, anyway.
Here are some pictures of Asi chasing his tail. Well, none of him actually chasing it, because he's just too fast for my camera! At one point, he was in the tree, saw his tail outside of it, and lept through the top to catch it, following it almost all the way through the tree again. I guess he's feeling better!
