Well things are looking up... I am living abroad and actually surviving. I've met boys. I'll spare you the details. Unless you REALLY want to hear them and then you can email me. I have also made buddies in my program and I am feeling like this might actually work out.
This weekend I am going surfing!!!! So it is time to suck it up and conquer the fear of the ocean.
For once in my life, I am actually loving the bar scene. There seem to be a wide variety of options and a lot of reasonably priced beer. I just have to keep telling myself to not smile at boys here. Apparently in Australia, as I learned recently, if you make eye contact with and smile at a boy here that means you want to sleep with him and they seem to take it pretty seriously down here. Now the cure to get any boy away from you is to say, "fuck off," which I absolutely love. I had to use it the other night and it totally worked. The blunt nature of culture down here is a bit shocking at first, but I've been enjoying it.
Other than that...the city is amazing and my internship is going to be kick ass. I might get to work at the Today show here at the highest rated channel in the country!!!!
