Ah, May in Missouri

So far new LJ looks uglier, still lacks some of the old features, probably even more bloated code. I'm sure we're all very shocked. But hey, gotta keep the PR people and coders happy . . .

Couple of weeks ago it was in the 80s. Then a storm front moved through and we've been in the 50s and 60s for the better part of a week. Monday night had a lot of hail, nothing very big though, and more importantly no tornado with it.

Pooky last week was getting used to having a couch window downstairs that she could sit at. It's just above the ground. One night there was this awful yowling, like she'd injured herself or fallen down something. I tracked it down to the basement, where Pooky was being menaced by a stray cat right on the other side of the window! It wasn't being aggressive or scared or anything except curious; it was just sitting there and looking at her (and then me) with huge yellow eyes. I finally went out and chased it off so Pooky wouldn't have a stroke over it, then I had to go out and chase it off again when it didn't take the hint. But she was assiduous about hanging out at that window for a few days afterwards.

We've been weaning Tink off of "chase" and onto "fetch". KJ's getting the idea into her, but it doesn't come naturally. She's been doing pretty well at her agility training, though.

Irises are so big and pretty, but they don't last long. The ones in back are mostly the white-and-yellow variety, with some small purples to the other side of the radiator unit thing.

Going to be doing some serious housework tomorrow. Clearing out the gutters and a few other things. We're flying up to bring KJ's mom back for a few days next Friday.

pooky, weather, tink, lj
