Zephaniah as a freelance remodeller: now with more stylized Captain America

Well, let's see. Things going on.

The DDO thing seems to have resolved now. Akamai is penned in properly. Good for them, should have been like that to begin with. I'm still using the 3rd party client because it's faster with the loading.

Spotify has reskinned their interface. It's darker and more stylized now. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. The playlists now have their length given at the top. Nice. The font is bigger and more double-spaced. Nice for people with bad eyesight, awkward for me because there are fewer songs visible at any given time and I have to scroll down just to get to the playlists, which is the only thing on the left I interact with 99% of the time.

We saw Captain America: Now With 136% More Awesome Action on Saturday. Probably the best Marvel movie yet. Thoroughly well done. Avengers Assemble is probably still my favorite because it's more fun and more my speed, but this one is better, no question.

Got the Lumina transferred over to our name today. There was a music store around the corner that I'll probably take KJ to at some point. The lady said they were out of pennywhistle sheet music (Did I mention KJ bought a pennywhistle within the last month or two?) but they'd be sure to restock.

Beautiful weather today. Daffodils have bloomed (oh, we have daffodils?), the tree out front is turning white and pink, and the little scrubby bush out front is very yellow.

Pooky went to the vet last week for a checkup. She had to have some teeth pulled. She's got a thing where her body attacks the enamel. Apparently one or two teeth were really badly eroded, which KJ thinks explains her breath. Pooky came home just a little woozy.

Mom and Dad have been getting work done on the downstairs bathroom. It's been a few weeks. That was not originally a bathroom, but the previous residents made it one, and the walls were never actually waterproofed. That work's done, apparently, so now it's more properly bathroomy. They're bringing a spare bed over this Saturday for our guest room.

The theme for Sunday's worship was soundtracks, so they got some brass together and led off with a medley of Star Trek, the Superman love theme, the Mos Eisley cantina jingle (took me a while to place), and the Star Wars theme. The text was from Zephaniah, and the idea was that, much as a movie's soundtrack reminds us of the themes, reinforces the action, and foreshadows what might be about to happen, so did the prophets serve as a soundtrack for Israel and Judah. The current sermon series is about God's Story as seen in the Bible, and the themes that have been covered so far are: God wants a relationship with us; God keeps promises; God provides what we need for our journey; God calls the unlikely and gives them a better story; and God's love is recurring and relentless. The prophets all tried to remind their audiences of those principles, but of course people usually didn't listen.

I got accepted as a freelance editor! I'll get sent stuff, edit it for readability, and send it back by email and get paid a little. The company seems pretty professional to me so far. A little extra money will be nice to have.
