Painting update

Got the TSP done on Wednesday, aside from a once-over for the part of the kitchen currently blocked by the fridge. Yay!

Priming going fast -- we're getting done tomorrow (Saturday). KJ's gotten off work in the afternoon yesterday and today to come help.

We went and got the paint yesterday. KJ started painting today, the part where the fridge normally sits. She's had the jitters about the kitchen color. I haven't worried about it. It's going to be bright and cheery (and totally different from the ugly color that was behind the wallpaper, even though they aren't that far off in terms of hue and lightness)! I get a bit concerned thinking about the dining room color, because that sort of green is quite capable of going just a bit wrong, but then I look at the paint chip again and visualize and don't worry.

We've had a groundhog and a gray-and-white cat in the backyard since last update, plus a bird I did not know. Between a sparrow and cardinal in size, dark up top and light underneath. The cat has no collar but looks in reasonable shape. If it's a stray, it's not a very good one -- I snuck up on it easily, while its attention was ninety degrees away, and finally had to talk to it to get it to notice me. It turned around and stared at me from under its shrub as I warned it that this was going to be Pooky's yard from now on, and cats would not be welcome. Finally when I moved to the right, it dashed off over the back fence. It was back this morning, on the other side of the yard and not watching the birds.

Today we've had a young squirrel under the feeder for hours and hours. Must feel winter coming. It hasn't bothered the birds or attacked the feeder itself, so we've left it alone. A bunny came along as we were getting ready to leave back to the apartment, and there followed a series of mutual freaking-outs before the bunny settled down and ignored the squirrel trying to make sense of this new beast. It was rather like a cat trying to figure out a new toy: the squirrel kept cautiously approaching, then flipping out and heading back to safety.
