House-hunting

Went to see two houses yesterday. The first one KJ is in love with. It's a little more vertical than I'm used to, but I can deal with that. My concerns are that the price is playing footsie with the upper end of our arbitrary price range and that the backyard is barely there. It's just a strip of land so someone can say "Yeah, I have a backyard" truthfully and hope the other person never comes to visit. Beyond is a fair expanse of land and a large pond / small lake, and the front yard is nice, and it is at the end of a cul-de-sac so you could play catch out front . . . but it's the principle of the thing.

Second was something I'm more used to. Unfortunately there's no basement and all that yard would mean a lot of mowing . . . and it's "only" a few $k less than the first one. I think it's been ruled out.

I'd prefer to look at a few more, but KJ has her heart set on this one and we may need to move fast before someone else grabs at it . . .

Anyway, we're going to see about getting pre-approved at a second place this evening. Maybe they'll be a little cheaper than KJ's bank.

I've been watching and listening to The Mikado lately and enjoying it. Fortunately the lyrics are online, or I'd probably not understand large parts of it. I'm not good at understanding singing, if you haven't guessed.

Star Trek Online has a sale on starships and suddenly Certain Things are within my immediate price range. I'm probably going to get a decent-looking shuttle, but I am tempted to go for the original Connie instead.
