On Aristophanes

Been reading Rogers's translations of Aristophanes's comedies at the college library. "The Clouds", "The Wasps", and what I've gotten through of "The Frogs" have been quite enjoyable, especially given that they're ancient Greek plays translated into ~150-year-old British.

The footnotes are interesting and helpful but frustrating, with half of the interesting bits being in the original Greek or Latin. Rogers was clearly playing to the scholars there. Ah well.

So far, I think, "The Wasps" is my favorite. It still applies today, with one political party or another giving lip service to their preferred voting base.
