Don't look under the cut if you don't want to read about drunken people doing weird things. You have been warned.
I went to Turku on Thursday. Like I wrote earlier, on that day I didn't get any school stuff done because I was too busy braiding my hair and listening to Marilyn Manson. I forgot to watch the time while doing that and I started packing too late, so couldn't go to taiji. The bad luck didn't stop there, though. When I started making my way to the city center and train station, I missed the subway by a minute or two. Because of that, and one alcohol store being closed and me having to find another one, I missed my train to Turku by another minute or two. At least I hadn't bought the ticket yet. Phew.
I hung around for an hour until the next train left and during that time I randomly bumped into
idachan which was fun. When I finally got into the train, the first 30 minutes went by just fine, but then the train suddenly stopped and half of the lights went out. There was an announcement saying that there were technical problems with the train and we'd have to wait. The train got moving after some time, but it stopped at least twice more on the way to Turku and it was 40 minutes late when it got there. I wasn't very happy. Someone or something seemed to be plotting against my Easter plans.
The state of unhappiness changed when
riseandshine,
umbralin and the crowd came to pick me up. I thought the drinking would be done on Friday, but they'd already started and in a few hours I was just as happily drunk as them. There was laughter and snuggling and cuddling and even kisses to various parts of bodies when the night wore on. Perhaps the best and most ridiculous idea from me during that night was to do drunken taiji with
va_nu_pieds and
inexercitu. Joe made it even better by saying that it should be done outside and bare-footed. My god the ground was cold! I found myself getting along with the two very well, having vodka ceremonies and choosing music to listen to. It was nice.
We went to bed some time in the morning (6-ish?) and I woke up a little after noon, I think. Harry (sorry, hon, I'm just more used to this name) was watching The Long Kiss Goodnight and I joined him in mocking the movie. When the others got up, we made salmari of two bottles of koskenkorva for the evening. We probably didn't do anything very interesting during the day because I can't remember it.
nirith joined us. There was A Knight's Tale on TV and we watched it. Oh, and we had a bowl full of Easter eggs and we kept eating them all through Easter. I've probably never had that many eggs in one Easter!
We had wine and cheese and scones and crackers for the evening. Juha came to eat and drink with us. I ate so much that for a long time I didn't feel drunk at all even though I had quite many salmari shots and other things to drink. Then suddenly it hit me and I joined people in the living-room who were passing a plastic seal around and sniffing it in turn. I'd gotten it from an Easter egg earlier. Yes, it seemed like a superb idea then. No, it doesn't make any sense anymore. :P We listened to music and sang along to it. The others started to watch a movie that didn't seem interesting and I found myself napping on the floor. Apparently they watched it only for a short while before they left for their homes. Jutta made me get up from the floor. I brushed my teeth and we went to bed. I heard the next morning that I'd taken hold of her hand, said something like "I think I'm going to pass out now", and fallen asleep immediately.
On Saturday I and Jutta woke up in the afternoon and there was cuddling before we got up which was lovely. I love cuddling in the mornings and the feeling of lazyness. We went to shop for groceries, met with Harry there and rented two movies: Constantine and Elektra. We wanted to watch something with the rest of the crowd that wouldn't require too much thinking from our part. Constantine was still fun and the angel lovely. Elektra was quite bad. It wasn't even bad in a fun way, just bad. That evening... what did we even do, besides watching movies? There was only a little drinking this time. Hmm... Can't remember.
On Sunday Joe left home and I and Jutta were left alone in the apartment. We got some extra fresh air while taking Maggie out for a walk because the keys got left in the apartment and we had to wait for some guy to come open the door for us. The sun shone and the weather was lovely. Later Harry came to keep us company and we watched two movies again. First was Untouchables from TV. It was probably a good movie, but I have to confess I don't remember much of it. I had some troubles concentrating, I kept thinking about some random things and missed quite a few scenes in the movie. Fortunately I got my concentration back for the next movie, Twelve Monkeys, and it was a really good movie.
There was only the three of us and we sat at the table in the kitchen, chatting and drinking whatever we had left of the alcohol. Can't almost believe some of the things I said while joking. :P Some people just inspire me in that state and then my mouth goes flapping and the weirdest or funniest things come out. But I had fun and I felt very comfortable right then. Too bad the night had to end. It was actually light outside this time around 6:30 am. The three of us and Maggie all slept until afternoon.
Monday, the last day, went by in a kind of haze. I guess it was the slight sleep deprivation and drinking and just general tiredness. Jutta had to study for an exam so I, Harry and Linda, who came to visit, watched TV. We saw the last half of Toy Story 2 and after that we watched The Truman Show. The time to go home came, which was sad. We said our goodbyes to Jutta and went. Harry came with the same train as I, and he left the train halfway to Helsinki. The second hour passed by just as quickly and then I was home.
Or, well, I didn't go straight home from Turku. I went to
arkangeli's to watch a Swedish teenager movie Fjorton suger. And yesterday evening we watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas after my taiji and our Alter Ego club evening. What a weird movie that was. It was directed by Terry Gilliam, like Twelve Monkeys. I tried to remember what tird movie of his I've seen, and now that I checked it from imdb.com, it was The Brothers Grimm. Right. And apparently Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a fourth.
But I think that's enough about movies.
Good news: I think I'm getting a summer job in the company where I'm doing part of my thesis! They actually asked me if I could work for them and they don't mind too much that they have to give me a week off so I can go to Roskilde.
Bad news: The one hard disk on which my Windows and Linux are installed might be breaking. Windows has been wonky for a while and now it won't even start up. I've been moving files to the second hard disk and burning them on dvd's now that I still can. Luckily the hard disk's warranty is still valid and I should get a new one pretty quickly if it's really broken.
