I started cutting a new smock last night. I may have already screwed up in the body width, i.e. not adding sea allowance. Thank God for gores. I haven't remeasured yet to see. I only did body and sleeves last night. Yes it takes a while - I do the pulled thread method, it takes time, but I find it better in the end.

Archery practice started last week. Well, sort of. Magnus warned folks this was the first week and our first time with the backdrops, they were going to take time to set up. Lots of help would be needed to do this. But, of course, at least half the folks were standing around complaining it was taking too long. Well, I don't see you helping "stitching" the netting together or finding _something_ to do. I did. Anyway, got 3 quick rounds in at the 20. I concentrated on anchor point and consistent draw. Got 13, then 17, then 22, so I think I am pinning down more of my form. This week, we should get at least one full RR in. I want to break 50.

Tuesday's dance practice was mostly SCA clothes display. I think it was only partial successful. There are a good section of long-term Seagirtians who really don't know Ren Faire costume from period clothes. Lame waist cinchers and coin belts not _my_ definition of good SCA clothes, but I guess eveyone needs a start. Can't we start people with simple tunics though? A 1st attempt and several years old Elizabethan was presented and its issues discussed. Someone one the list said how this was the most impressive item of the night and wants something like it. Sigh. Mistress Aeringunnr was wearing a fabulous Norman outfit with a silk undertunic, herringbone wool overtunic with hand embroidered rondels, tablet woven belt too. I thought it was the best there, but I guess my standards are high. I wore my orange flemish, and received a compliment from Aeringunnr. I wore it to try to explain some of it - people are constantly trying to help me by telling me the hem is caught up. It seems silly, but it feels nice to be complimented by someone who knows a little about what they are looking at. I think I have truly become a ?garb snob", and even _I_ don't meet my standards. Best get on that dress form padding and make new clothes.
