Konjiki no Gash Bell!! GBA ramblings.
hasunoutena is Teh Evil for sending me this. I spent the better half of yesterday playing, trying to unlock stuff and collect items. And damn, if it wasn't hella fun and addicting.
I'll write something for konjiki, once I can narrow down the screencaps I've madly been taking to a few (but they're all so cute!) and think of something semi-concise to say. In the meantime, I'll just spam my own journal with random gushing detail.
First, I love how the mamono and bookkeeper fight together, and every move is just perfect for each character. For example, Sherie bitchslaps everyone who comes near while Shiori simply cowers behind her book... but her mamono makes up for her wussiness in strength and aggressiveness. There were times I was cursing the pair out loud because Koruru won't stop coming, and her attacks/spells almost always overpower anyone else's. Koruru/Shiori's the hardest opponents, IMO, even more so than Zeon. x_x
See how Sherie tries to steal Kiyomaro's book? D: No one's safe from attack! And the details! The expressions! The way people drop their books and can't use spells when damaged too much within a short time span. Much love for this game.
It took me a few tries to unlock Won Rei/Rien (have to beat the story twice on normal or hard, without using a single continue), because I didn't realize I had to be using the 3-round option. =P It was so worth it, though, because they have the coolest-looking team special. Very Chun Li-ish.
I can't believe I have to wait until ep. 37-38 to see him. T_T Ishida-chama~
Then I went on to unlock Zeon/Dufaux. *______*
I don't care if Dufaux was shown only as a shadow and had one line ("zakeru") so far... with his looks, he's just gotta be evil! <3 <3 <3 *returns to being a Midorikawa-h0* Zeon's a really easy character to play with, even though beating him wasn't that hard. He has the same moves as Gash, only his reach is longer and his physical attacks go through better.
But when you get the buri (there's 26 items in the thing, including a female!Vulcan. XD Who says there's no romance in the show?), Gash can shoot a beam of lightning all the way across the screen. I don't think Zeon has the move.
There's still 2 teams I haven't managed to unlock... I know one is Umagon/Raiku-sensei (<- the mangaka XD XD... because they hadn't revealed Umagon's partner at the time of release, I'm assuming), but I'm clueless about the other. I'm kind of hoping Eita/Hyde, because it doesn't feel right to leave them out. But they weren't in the early chapters in the manga, so maybe they're actually one of the later teams. *shrug* Oh wait! Maybe it's Kid/whoever!
Okay, mini-games... I managed to unlock all four, and the three modes for each (although I still can't beat the difficult mode for the third and fourth ToT).
1 - You're Gash and you run away from Naomi by pressing A + B as fast as you can. XD
2 - You're Gash and you press the right combination of buttons (A, B, L, R, arrows) within a certain time to make your very own Vulcan! This is my favorite part of the game. =D
3 - You're Umagon and you bite Kiyomaro's hand when he puts it close, then press A+B as fast as you can to bite it a certain amount of times before time runs out. XD Pretty much same as 1... damnit, Kiyomaro! Let me bite you a few more times!! I want the friendship curry. D:
4 - 00F game. A bar moves left to right, and you press the matching button when the bar is centered on it... it's like one of those DJ arcade games I forget the name of. I'm usually good at these things, but I can't seem to get the timing down. ._.
Unlocking the last mini-game was kind of hard (for me anyway), because you have to beat the challenge round using Kyanchome, who's amazingly weak. I think his strongest move is when he shrinks and runs around being annoying, which really isn't that strong. But their moves are pretty damn amusing, even without groping breasts. XD
After a while, it's all a little too easy, but I guess that's what the difficult mode is for. >_> Wanting to screencap everything ups the replay value for me though so I didn't mind having to play through the challenges several times for different items.
That was all over the place. ToT I need to learn how to gameblog. Oh yeah, Alicia... if you want, I can email you my saved data file. If you swap it in for yours, you can at least try all the characters I've gotten, in the vs mode, or play the mini-games. I know you're dying to see Folgore do his dorky dance in the 00F game. ;D
One last thought... it would have been cool if they had used the character pair songs for the game, even if only four pairs have songs. =PP
