The parenting adventures have been plentiful. Olivia has learned to make a bunch of new noises. I deeply suspect she's learned them from Dingo, her best doggo bud, as the sounds are all high-pitched and can be quite piercing, like Dingo's yips and whines. She is still figuring out the mechanics of rolling over but hasn't managed the feat yet. For a while there she was working on her upper body, but recently she has switched over to her lower body. Coordinating both halves will be the final step, I expect. She gets mad faster during tummy time due to her frustration at being unable to roll over. She's really good at holding up her head now, and she likes to spend a lot of time in her high chair watching me clean the kitchen and do chores and also keep an eye on the dogs while they run around the yard.
I have reached another new milestone as a parent. Parenting while sick! I felt the symptoms on Friday, the sneezing and the burning in my throat. By Friday night I felt awful. All day Saturday I was full of endless sniffles. Good thing we stocked up on all kinds of tissue boxes. I've been going through them quite rapidly. My saving grace was my husband, who took care of Olivia after I fed her so I could sleep a whole lot on Saturday, which I think definitely contributed to my recovery. Today I'm less sniffly and my throat doesn't hurt as bad but my entire body hurts and I have a headache. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop and for Olivia to get sick. In the meantime, I've been using my awesome Teavana travel thermos thingie. It has a built-in tea strainer and literally keeps my tea warm for hours on end. Four hours later, my tea is till steaming when I go to drink it. I keep reloading the strainer with chrysanthemums and putting honey in the bottom and it helps soothe my throat. I'm probably bleeding chrysanthemum honey tea at this point.
We were supposed to have people over for dinner on Friday but it didn't pan out - I was sick and their coworkers were sick and they had to cover a shift. We are going to try again this weekend. We plan on having tacos and also finally using our fire pit. I bought all kinds of fire pit supplies - stuff for s'mores and also stuff for hotdogs. I am hoping this cold is gone in a week. Also I will see if Olivia can get a flu shot at her next appointment, because it's that time of year again, and even if Olivia isn't school I'm still around school kids and will be exposed to all their germs. Good times.
Olivia's awake time has expanded. Took me a couple of days to figure that out, so for a couple of days getting her to take a nap was a battle every time, but I think now that I'm not trying to put her down before she's ready things are easier.
I am really liking the Young Women I'm working with. I get to spend time with different ones each week, it seems, more by chance than by design, but I like them all. Also I got to talk from an old colleague, and she updated me on some of my old cases, and also we just caught up on life. She's a really good person and I miss her.
I did pretty well keeping up on my chores this week, plus getting extra admin chores done, so that's good. I need to start making arrangements for our Christmas to Idaho. It's going to be an adventure.
Cody's birthday was this week but it was pretty lame because neither of us felt all that good and also Cody just doesn't like his birthday because he hates getting older.
...I would write more but Olivia is freaking out.
Gotta go!
