Well, it's here...

Tomorrow, the Oregon Tile. Somehow, I can't wait, but I can also wait... forever and a half.

The drive with Jesse was interesting. First off, I continually misinterpret him being sick as him being unnaturally cantankerous, so I apologized excessively (even by my standards) to the point that I think I really did make him cantankerous. The border wait was supposed to be N/A on the web, and it was 40 mins-1 hr - misrepresentation, negligence, too bad there really was no service done or I could start testing out my skills at legal frivolity. Oh well, along the way I got to hear some very nice trance he's into (and whatever crap I listen to that he didn't cringe at or gouge his eyes at ASAP, which comprises less than 1% of what I *do* have), and a few unique discussions about various people (including, among other things, for some reason I can't remember anymore, trying to envision a breakdance-off between Dave W and Brian C to Ace of Base's "I Saw The Sign" (which was playing on the radio), with Kenji judging in a Randy Jackson-esque manner... yeah).

The drive was filled with lots of random statements reflecting road vexation on Jesse's part ("Who deemed that Seattle rush hour starts at 2 PM?!?!?"), including some long-standing vendetta he had with a truck we were driving behind that was traveling abnormally slowly for interstate standards. Thenceforth, for about 20-30 minutes, I not just had normal vexation and a bit of cantankerous illness, but also random fist pumps, moans of "nooooo" and a moment of Locke-like irony to conclude the epic struggle when Jesse finally overtook for good, only to have nature call.

We finally got to Portland only to get lost for a bit, then we got to the Holiday Inn only to find out that the rooms were all filled up, though we'd made a reservation. If Jesse wasn't so lovably agreeable and nice (not to mention that the res was under his name), I'd have started pitching a fit about breach of essential terms to the contract, variation of clauses, and seeing just how far I could take it to getting a free upgrade or room, at the least. It's not really a commercial transaction but I believe it is governed by the SGA, though trying to enforce a BC judgment in Oregon would be quite... interesting, unless there's a reciprocity clause I didn't learn about in class.

Well, here I am now, just writing whilst Jesse goes to fetch a zany 18 year old at the airport. How will I fare tomorrow, or the day after, or later? I'll just state now, that I'll be happy with 1-15. I have at least two different goals: either to do well, or to hit 1749 (or, if I'm ambitious, 1499) and enter Div 2 or 3 in Orlando only to go 1-27 there. That, or I could go annotating people. I don't know; I haven't really studied, I haven't really played, I've just been thrilled that school is over. Speaking of that, does anyone need to sue anyone else? Just make things up, so I can get some practice out there!

P.S. can't wait to meet some people! It'll be nice to see Ces, Gab, Connie, and Jason again. It'll be fun to also meet Peter A, and to see Dave's little ones (if they do pop up). Speaking of which, thanks Dave for organizing this!
