WoW tourney today

Ok, so today was my first try at competitive card games in over 3 years. Please note several things;

1. Note the above 3 years since last serious competition in any CCG.
2. Today's games were my first WoW CCG games, ever.
3. I learned how to play WoW CCG by 1, reading the booklet, and 2, goind to the WoW CCG website and going thru the flash tutorial they have.
4. I currently have purchased 2 starters and 3 booster packs.

So, after reading the forums a little bit I realise that I have none of the cards that these people are talking about. So, I just try to get a feel for the kinds of decks they are constructing, but, without ever having played, it was all greek to me. So I throw together a little Alliance hunter deck, cause that was one of my starters, get it to 60 cards and off to the tourney I go, confident that I will be beat down by some little kids. To my surprise, there was only 1 guy younger then me at the tourney. Total of 8 people, and I was the second youngest. Thankfully this means I won't be standing out too much.

My first game is against a Alliance Paladin, at first I thought I was doing pretty good, I got about 10 damage onto him, then he suddenly got a few high cost guys out and bam, I was slowly plinked to death. The second game on the other hand, went much better. I was supposed to play the aformentioned younger person, but his mom showed up and made him leave. Man that bring back horrible memories, so instead I get a bye. Game 3 was actually a good game, I was playing against a Horde warlock deck. I held my own most of the game until he got a few curses onto my guy and I ended up dying to the CCG equivelant of DOTs. But the guys were pretty nice and I ended up being given a pretty good stack of cards for my troubles (random commons mostly) and a good bit of advice.

Overall a positive experience, and as soon as I get the 3 boxes of boosters I won off of ebay, I'm sure I will do a little bit better next time.
