ninja post before sleeping
Fic rambling for entry to fe_contest . Mostly just me trying to sort out what I'm trying to do with the fic.
So we have five parts, one for each of the characters; Natasha, Knoll, Duessel, Amelia, and Cormag. Natasha, Knoll, and Duessel create one interpretation of the theme (vision), while Amelia and Cormag decided they wanted to do something else. (This is a post-game fic, regarding the rebuilding of Grado) Thematically (or, in interpretation of the prompt) they don't want to work cohesively. Bah.
Natasha wants to rebuild the church, provide a spiritual pillar (?) for the people. Knoll decides to hang up dark magic somewhere down the line and go to work with the earth. (AHAHAHA, Earthsea rubbed off; Knoll now wants to listen to earthquakes, and have some goats) And Duessel is off trying to structurally rebuild the nation. Enter politics and backstabbing (and here we see that I've been reading too much of A Song of Ice and Fire), which is something I've never tried to write. And errr, I'm not sure how to credibly write politics. And I'm not sure how I want to kill him off; only I want some reference to his Lance He Never Uses.
Meanwhile Amelia and Cormag aren't working off a vision to rebuild the nation. They're the people returning, leaving to their homeland. While Amelia discovers that Grado is her past, Cormag discovers it's been his home (and future) all along. (Writing wise, there's too much summarization going on there; needs more showing and less telling) Of course, I had to errr, fit Tana finding Cormag. So Tana appears.
And sadly, I don't have really good grasp on the characters, which means research must be done. And Natasha, who I wrote a fic for before, doesn't want to be written at all. I guess because it runs slightly similar to that last fic for her, where she's driven to do something. (i do suspect some of the stubborness might be because I'm trying very hard not to write about religion)
... maybe I should ponder how Grado would rebuild as a whole, and not just BS it. That sounds like a lot of work. Hmmmmmmmmm. (and would probably require more info on the history Magvel, which errr, is something I didn't pay much attention to............)
