This entry in short: I'm on ch 16, and have 5 units I will be unable to promote post ch 16 until ch 19. Anyway I can get promotion items prior to ch 19?
So after 29 hours of play, I've finally caught up to where I previously was on Fire Emblem 8 (Chapter 15, Scorched Sand). Yeah, I decided to restart my file, and that's how long its taken me; an entire 6 more hours than it did the first time. However, my team is way more powerful than before. All unpromoted characters are just about ready to promote (i.e. at lv. 19 and just a few exp. points away from lv. 20) with the exception of my healers, Tethys, and Knoll (because I just got him).
Scorched Sand was so much easier to beat this time around (even if it did take me 2 hours); I died a gajillion times in my item questing in my last playthrough and got frustrated and never finished the chapter. The problem with my new, powerful team is that after promoting everyone I could, I still have 8 units that I can't promote because I don't have the items. And I'm one of the people who wants to promote everyone.
So, I need an Ocen Seal, 3 Hero Crests, 3 Knight Crests, and 1 Elysian Whips. I have 1 Guiding Ring (going to Knoll) and 1 Master Seal. After I beat the next chapter, I get 1 Hero Crest and 1 Knight Crest. This amounts to I have to leave 5 units unpromoted until Chapter 19, which has a Secret Shop. I didn't use the Secret Shop in Jehanna Hall because, well, I was poor. Without the Silver Card, one promotion item would've cost me about all my funds. And from what I understand, you can't access Secret Shops fromt the World Map unless you're on Creature Campaign. Which I'm not. D: I hate having to choose who to promote, and who not to; I spent a great deal of time blubbering over that already.
On the brightside, it was extremely satisfying to kill Valter at long last. Cormag + Dragon Spear = Victory. And I'm keeping a list of phrases and terms to use in fanfic; yes, I am indeed that dorky. And Valter's battle conversation with Eirika in Scorched Sand is something that would fit quite well with that one evil plot bunny that's currrently sleeping. Supports still make me giggly because playing matchmaker is just too fun. Speaking of which, I supported Franz and Natasha up to B (and I'm going for A), and I'm surprised they don't have a following. Their Supports are just too effing cute. I mean, c'mon, he makes her stuff, gives her gifts, and brushes her hair! My shipperness totally jumped onto that.
My eyes hurt now. I should go read books now...
Anyone have any advice for this promotion item issue I'm having?
