SYTYCD - Top 18

I finally saw my first full episode of So You Think You Can Dance!  Yay!

The following are my thoughts.  C:

Jazz - Chelsea and Thayne
The costumes were a bit strange for my taste. But I like the concept: forbidden love. That’s an almost guaranteed way to my heart. <3 I see what the judges meant; they didn’t quite get the concept. But I liked it regardless; I felt like the lines and movements were strong and confident even if they didn’t properly express the story. Still, I felt the need to get up and dance. And that means it’s good. . . .then again it could just be because I thought the song was infectious.

Argentinean Tango - Chelsie and Mark
I felt like the steps were hesitant and I didn’t feel the chemistry. At all. Zip. Nada. And I usually jump at any miniscule amount of UST. So I didn’t like it that much. I was screeching “NO NO NO!” as the judges gave rave reviews.

Hip Hop - Jessica and Will
It was good. Liked the footwork. Regardless of the judge’s praise of Will, he didn’t really stand out to me.

Foxtrot - Kourtni and Matt
Her hair looked like they were in cornrows. X) Not bad, I kinda liked it. Really liked her dress though. Routine had attitude in a classy old-school kinda way, light and airy.

Contemporary - Courtney and Gev
Loved the initial lift where it looks like she runs up his leg. The foot thing Mary mentioned I don’t know what to think of; I neither like nor dislike it. And their facial expressions were beautiful, especially hers in that kind of ‘hearbeat’ ish step. I liked it; I felt the empathy. Yeah, it was good.

Broadway - Katee and Joshua
First of all: a big yeah! for an Asian showing we can dance. And last week’s routine to “No Air” I might have to go youtube. C: She’s light-footed, definitely a feeling of air.    And his leap had some serious height. And enough sass for a Broadway routine. Didn’t find it as good as Nigel did, but I still enjoyed it. And Joshua’s a popper? Wow, never would have guessed that. Props to him. Props to him.

Salsa - Susie and Marquis
What was that black thing in her hair?? I liked it; I came close to feeling the fangirl love. But I missed the middle part of the choreography too; my TV started blacking out on me. T_T

Viennese Waltz - Kherington and Twitch
The end was Grace itself. At times I thought I wasn’t even watching ballroom dance.

Krump - Comfort and Chris
I remember her solo from the beginning.  It stood out because most of the others did turns.  Chris did real well on the routine, but he was definitely outshone by her.  She was in her element and freakin owned.  Poor boy got pwned by Nigel too.  Off-topic he's way taller than her!  He's just as tall as Cat!
