Guess who's done with their finals?

YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT. Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm a free bitch baby!

I could go home earlier, but I'm hoping to finally do some sight-seeing.  Despite this being my third year here, I haven't gone sight-seeing in my college hometown.

So, tomorrow heading to the Zoo with tiramisudolce.  Then trying to go to the Dickens Fair this weekend.  Might go to the Blockade but not the Port Shutdown (too early for me) on Monday.  With any free time I'm hoping to just sit in solitude and finish some of these WIPs I have.  If anyone's hoping for me to finally edit those FE kink meme fills... errrr, well, I'm mostly trying to finish the XMFC fics, might work on that coming out story, and that one kink meme fill.  (I've also been pondering what it means that Angel and Darwin are the only* PoC, and they both don't pick Superhero names, but use their own names.)
*Janos being the exception.

Still got shit to do, but will take today off I think and watch the rest of Season 2 of Luther. Oh, and the Sherlock Season 2 spoilers on Adler? >DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Some stuff I meant to write about but never did:

The Hip Hop Dance dancefest was rad.  I'll link the dance companies I can find on the internet.  The show opened with a low-key dance-off on stage between the other crews, which was a great way to keep the audience entertained while waiting for the show to start.

Antics (Los Angeles), "Mortal Rounds in the Fatal Cypher"

It's like Mortal Combat, but way cooler.  Loved that the women were BAMF.  It was super fun to watch.  And I liked the music.  It's even more impressive knowing this is an improv piece.  (The video linked is of the same piece but at a different show)

Mind Over Matter (San Francisco), "Beginning of the end..."
It had chains.  And dudes in chains with women being the ones holding the chains.  This ups my appreciation of this routine a lot.  Super bummed I can't find an official webpage or current vid of this.  Dance was super fierce.  I'm also dying to find what song they used at the end because having a dude on all fours with the ladies holding the chains to him while having "THE RAIN GOD IS COMING" blasting was hella epic.

Soul Sector (San Francisco), "Digital Artillery
Good dancing, but didn't entertain me.  I think I actually saw them the last time I went to see Loose Change Dance Co.  I think they might also have been on America's Best Dance Crew, but I don't remember.

Chapkis Dance (Suisun City), "Jungle"

This dance was dope as fuck.  In fact, it was so good I didn't give a fuck that it was ~tribal~ and in a jungle.  This was a pretty ambitious piece since this was the largest ensemble number there was with probably 40+ dancers from small kids to the owner himself (who played quite the funny role as the human sacrifice, lol).  The choreography was super tight on this too with the transitions and having dancers at different heights to add layers.  I've actually seen their Kollaboration show before; this was the group that wowed my mom enough that she wanted to see their second show instead of seeing Miyazaki (I was quite horrified as you can imagine).  There're a few other videos of this routine out there, but this one is the run-through (minus Chapkis from what I can see) for the show.

FootworKINGz (Chicago), "Down 2 Biz"

They know how to work a crowd, and were an excellent choice to close the first half!  Very fun routine with a classy set of music!  I also love it when groups highlight their members.  You might recognize them from America's Best Dance Crew.  The girl was missing though. :(  As always, what I love about their style is the footwork (I guess that's my clogging year showing through).  The video is of an older performance of the same routine.

Decadancetheatre (New York), "When the Sky Breaks" (excerpt)

When The Sky Breaks, Full from jennifer weber on Vimeo.

Not my favorite routine of the night, but it's an all ladies group and they're bomb.  The video's the full version of what they excerpted.

FBC (San Francisco), "The Infected Convenant"
The opening was really funny.  And it was a fun piece too.  Shame I can't find the video for the humor and for its epic blacklight portion.  There's no room to fuck up when you're doing lightwork in blacklight, and everyone was totally together; it was very awesome.

Loose Change (San Francisco), "biomimicry"
The company I went to see this for!  Through those seven degrees of knowing people, I know one of the members.  Also the most mature group of the night age wise and it showed in how together they were on their choreography.  They're also on the contemporary/modern side of the hip-hop spectrum.

Robot Boys (Copenhagen, Denmark), "Remote Control"

Damn good duo.  Comical, know how to use their difference in height and body type, and match the music really well.  Brought the audience to their feet.  They also won Denmark's Got Talent I believe.  Video is of the same routine, just at a different venue.

Plague (London, UK), "The Fire of London"

They're good, but they didn't do much for me sadly.

All in all it was a great show and I'm sad I wasn't able to see the other program that had an entirely different set of dancers!

Long story when I went to see Shame I went and did shopping!

Checked out Zara after seeing Yahoo's news thingy that showed a cute dress of theirs for $40.  I think I might have found a new store to shop at!  :D  It's like a higher end Forever 21/ a H&M whose style I actually like.  The price range is all over the place with blouses from $20 to ~$80.  I didn't try on any clothes, so when I eventually go back, I hope their clothes fit; H&M is a very poor fit for me.  Anyway I was super excited to see the women's shoes.  I never realized how badly I wanted formal shoes like men have, but for women (never noticed women always have heels or ballet flats for fancy wear before!).  Anyways, saw these shoes that made me think of Janelle Monae, and impulsively bought them.  I wanted to try a size up, but they didn't have it since it was from last season and so it was on clearance (lol, thank goodness; would never have paid full price for them).  They kinda look like these ones, except mine was better quality (faux wood heel plus gold on the toe) and cheaper.

Finally was able to make the pilgrimage to LUSH as well.  Both times I've gone the employees are always hella fabulous in personality and dress.  The store's also pretty crowded since it's small anyway.  Got my hands on the lip balm I wanted too!  Haven't worked up the nerve to eat it yet.  It doesn't smell as good as I'd hoped, but I'm hopint it'll grow on me.  I like the texture once it settles on my lips.

And then, I got wrangled into the makeup chair at Urban Decay and walked away with lipstick and lipliner.  Again, it was an impulsive buy, espcially considering I don't know how to use makeup.  0.o  Also went into sticker shock a bit but bought it anyway.  Like I said, impulsive; which is odd since I'm usually not.  Although, DUDE.  That lipstick?  It took probably 10+ minutes to figure out how to open it with the stupid collector's cap!  And when we did open it, it took two of us sword and the stone style!  As for the lip liner...  I'm trying to figure out how that works too because it's not the kind you sharpen and there's nothign to twist...  One of the two was glittery/slightly shimmery and ajfdal;dfja I loved that look.  Even after the lipstick had worn off, I was still gliterrific.  (We'll see if I ever use this makeup though/will I learn to use make-up because I think it's a valuabe lifeskill to be able to chameleon yourself.  The problem of course is finding someone to teach me since I don't want to look like a clown.  ...my aunt perhaps?)

Oh, and hey, look at what's airing on PBS next Friday!

You have no idea how badly I wanted to see this when it first came out.  So I'm super excited to see it at last!
