So, Scott Pilgrim

There's something to get out of the way first:

BEST. MOVIE. EVER.
The theatre was full, I was there with a lot of my friends, it was awesome!
The crowd cheered, laughed, applauded, squealed, everything in unison.
It was an awesome experience.
I hadn't been this happy to be in a movie theatre in years.

With that said,

Scott Pilgrim is a two-hour sugar rush!

Not that I was expecting the movie to be anything less than awesome, but while the 8 bit Universal logo was showing, the thought, for the first time, crossed my mind: "how's Edgar Wright going to jam 6 volumes of comic into two hours of movie?"
By not giving viewers any time to even breathe, that's how. I had read the comic, so I can't really tell, but it seems to me the movie would be hard to keep up with if I hadn't.
So, yes, the movie is fast, but it's not a stupid action movie by any means. I was going to say the romance and comedy bits are there, the character development and plot are all there, but that'd be unfair. The truth is that this movie has no such thing as "bits". Everything comes together so tightly, and that's not just to compress the comic into movie format. It's all happening at the same time, cause that's what real life is like. Scott has to deal with his new girlfriend, and his new-new girlfriend, and her evil exes, and his band, and his evil ex, and himself, all at the same time. It's no wonder he's so lost most of the time, and if at any moment you feel like you're having trouble keeping up, it's because the movie is doing its job.

OK, I give up. It's taken me and my absolute lack of focus days to write this little.
Maybe I'll get back to it later, maybe I'll move on to something else.
And, hm, if you want to read something intelligent, read atolnon's take on the movie and comics. He's better at this than I am.
