So, because 2012 is quite apparently intent upon messing with us to the very end, and spent the last week or so identifying the one square inch of our collective familial ass that it hasn't kicked yet, today while we were out picking up the weekly grocery necessities we lost power steering in the Ford. Fortunately, Anthony is strong enough to steer the thing by arm-strength and soon we were at our friendly local mechanic, who ID'd the problem as a fan belt tensioner going bad and repaired it. Which is the good news. The bad news is that we really didn't need an unexpected $250 auto repair bill a month before Christmas.
And we especially didn't need Mom immediately declaring this to be alllllllllllll because we "drive all over the place" and and and WE HAVE NOT BEEN OUTSIDE THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA IN TWO FUCKING YEARS. Seriously. We have not. The furthest we've driven in the last six months? ONCE to Philly and THREE times to the Lehigh Valley. THAT IS FUCKING IT. The places we go to most regularly? TO WORK AND SHOPPING.
Not a possible explanation for this is, of course, the fact that the car is twenty fricking years old.
