Today and tomorrow are the last two scheduled days for training on the new system before it's supposed to, in theory at least, go live at the beginning of next month. The next two weeks are supposed to be devoted to having all the people who've been trained on the new system assisting the drivers in their training. This will involve teaching our drivers, many of whom are, in their own estimations, technologically illiterate to the point where using a smartphone is beyond their abilities to use a tablet-based GPS-and-Google-Earth interface system which will rigidly control not only their schedules but the assigned route they are supposed to take to reach each and every client, without flexibility or exception.
I am not at this training.
No, instead, they have opted to send the single most technologically illiterate person in the office -- the person who cannot successfully deploy Chrome from her desktop without help and can only barely access her own email -- to this training.
Of the three people in this office whose jobs have been 100% eliminated by the new system, that leaves me (whom my boss has long disliked but cannot fire because I've been good at my job) and the other person (whom my boss has long disliked but cannot fire because she's been good at her job) as the odd ducks out -- which makes me suspect I have job security until sometime in June and not much beyond that.
