What is it with me and vampires? I mean, I thought I'd outgrow them by now, but noooo, still stuck in it with no signs of letting up. Kinda like anime and manga. But well, way of the wolves, choice of the cat... way cool. Theoretically, lumping them together into the vampire genre is probably not fair since the vamps are not the main chars or the main baddies here, but more like boogeymen in the nature of Robert Jordan's halfmen. And they're not sexy, sexual whatever ala Anne Rice's or Laurell K Hamilton's boys. In fact, they're pasty-skinned, mind-controlled, aura-sucking, drill-for-a-tongue yucky creatures all in all. So nope, it's not the vamps. It's the very intriguing post-apocalypse world, semi sci-fi/fantasy hybrid and the totally yummy main character (as in, character wise. Really.)
Still halfway through WofW when the DSBL muse, the tyrant that she is, struck me with a sledgehammer and chained me to the laptop. But I'll bury myself in it as soon as I can escape from the clutches of evil corporate desktop...
