Apple's line of MacBook Pro's was updated today! I've been waiting for this for a long time, as my old MacBook thoroughly in need of replacement.
Apple has unfurled an interesting option in this latest update. They've offered SSD Hard Drives for some time now, but previously those options have limited the disk space available to half of what you could get with the standard issue Serial ATA drive. But now, the Serial ATA drive is standard at 500 GB, and you can get up to 512 GB with an SSD, which seems pretty neat! Somewhat less neat is the $1300 price tag on that option. (You can get SSDs w/less disk-space for less cash, but I'm not considering those options)
So I'd like to know if any of you have any strong opinions or pertinent experience with SSD drives. This is a costly trigger to pull, so I'd appreciate as much perspective on the issue as possible.
As a note, the Apple website has only the following to say about SSD drives "MacBook Pro also offers an optional 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB solid-state drive, which has no moving parts for enhanced durability."
