Dance Music Awareness

Jan 22, 2010 11:15

Since my office now seems to be blocking Pandora, I've taken to listening to various internet radio-stations via my simple Windows Medial Player. One of the stations I tune into is a pretty standard dance-music station, which plays sufficiently high bpm music to keep me bouncing along at work as I enjoy the caffeine rush of my daily iced-venti-no-whip-seven-pump-mocha. (mmmm....)

Something odd happened though this morning. The DJ took a moment to address his listeners about an important issue. (Why you need a DJ to play the same 20 tracks over and over again, I do not understand, buy anyway...) Expecting a plea for donations to Haiti I started paying attention, but instead the DJ took the opportunity to inform his listeners that some NYC dance music radio station was ending it's operations. He then further enjoined his listeners to "spread the word about dance music, and do your best to raise dance music awareness."

My God.
