Don't mess with mecha samurai or fried mars bars
So, last week was birthday, the increase in numbers is troublesome but good times were had. The only downside was my bad choice in movies, only this time however, as we went to go see Max Payne. I only played through the first game, and I do remember some random details involving some hooker assassin in the second game, so the characters were represented.
Represented in a sometimes mixed pacing of "Hey, I'm ____" and then less than five minutes later on to the next, I think the sister to the assassin chick even managed to get a fair amount of screen time before tripping balls and getting murdered, like any throw away character in a Frank Miller comic book (Dohohoho)
Visually, it was really appealing. The few parts that don't involve Marky Mark acting as stone faced as possible, or in scenes that are backdrops to other crappy acting, these dark angel beings show up, offsetting the story if nobody else is buying into the drugs = bad moral sandwich that is being shoved into our mouths.
And the snow wasn't accurate, according to Hayley, who at the best of times can barely see anything except for blurs and outlines of objects. She did borrow Dan's glasses, so her reliablity in the field of snowology on film is more believable in this case.
Also, I discovered a month back that comics are free on the internet, hoorah! You go to 4chan, go to the rapidshare section, and scanners put up monthly titles, like Amazing Spiderman, which I'm finally caught up on from their last plot point of marriage destroying.
Yay for Gundam 00 season 2. I know SOMEONE informed me that the whole series didn't make sense, and that it was full of overtalking, whysodramatic moments, and everything else that is featured in your stereotypical driven shounen mecha series, but why complain about dogs, as if they should be meowing instead of barking? I didn't explain the whole, "This is what they're created as", concept clearly, but oh well, to each their own anyway.
All the Gundam units got pimped, and the military got their new pimped units as well. The A-Laws are pretty awesome, they represent the military strength of the united earth federations, toting around giant lancers that shoot lasers, and have replaced the main forces of the last season, the Overflags. On that note however, the Overflags all got taken by a rebel military force, I guess they were put out at a garage sale once they pimped up the GN-Xs to make them the A-Laws.
My only disappointment is that only the Seravee is clearly more superior than the Virtue. Not only did the Seravee get two more cannons than the Virtue, it has this sheild on it's back, that turns into a face, allowing him to nuke someone from behind, it's like the anti-Rogue Gundam. (WoW joke)
My favourite from season 1, being the Dynames, dropped his kibble shields, so I guess he's suppose to be more agile, yet his sniper rifle is still the same. The Arios is completely the same as the Kyrios, I think his shield might be gone, but he's always kind of meh anyway.
The Exia came back with a cape, and had this terminator thing going on, with half of the helmet being broken off, revealing his robotic bits. After getting smacked around by the A-Laws, and being saved by Tiera in the Seravee, showing off his anti-ganking weapons, they cannibalized some of the left over bits from the Exia, into the 00, now the title makes sense! There's a Gundam... And it's the 00!
The shoulder engines are kind of goofy looking, and idealistically, more like targets for the enemy but hey, he goes really damn fast now supposely, now that he has them, and having a lighter verison of his can opener bladeshield.
All of this pales in the light of Graham's transformation from pretty cool military pilot guy to Mecha Samurai. His name is Mr. Bushido, and his Gundam even has a nice little samurai helmet, what a great character to cosplay as, that's gonna be the AE09 costume of the year.
I need to get a FG kit for the Exia, some of that hobby puddy stuff, and make a caped Exia, so cash.
