News from the Far Away Land of Rewriting (It's nicer here than I thought)

Firstly, some bad news. Apparently story writing and assignment marking make use of the same part of the brain: the thinking part.

True story.

And right now, after seven days of NaNo, my... err, "thinking part" is worn out from all the use (it's not accustomed to such activity). In fact, in defiance, it's ground to a spectacular halt.

Cheers! Your "me-too" support is just as welcome as your "me-something else" would have been. :D

The risk of burn out has, thankfully, decreased. I wrote next to nothing over the weekend--instead I planted a two-tone Grevillia, a Lilly Pilly and a Calistemon Weeping Wattle in my back yard and feel all the better for it. (I'm too impatient, though: I want them to be large and attracting birds already, even though they're only about 20cm in height right now. I predict much waiting. And frustration!)

Right now, I'm fleshing out Patrick's uni life with lazy students, lecturers with clown hair and bad cafeteria food. I'm trying to get some decent sub-plots going; extra bonus points if the sub-plots can relate to and heighten the conflict in the main story. Hhm, a bit tricky, but not impossible and I've some ideas already trickling through. :D I'm spending lots of time on Patty's family, in present time, and exploring sub-plots there too.

Still no dancing nun, though. She could be the answer to all these sub-plot issues. Any thoughts on where I could fit her in and make her make the story? No...? I knew the dancing nun idea was too good to be true.
