Ahem. Hi. *waves and pushes glasses further up*
I just felt the need to post this somewhere...just 'cause.
Anyway, to once more dent my pathetic attempts to seem normal or cool, I'm going to tell you about the school rocket team.
Oh yes, you read correctly.
Rocket Team.
Entered for this contest:
http://www.ukay-roc.org.uk/And, our rocket (did I mention our team is called "Rocket 2 Ya"? Oh we are the coolest B-)) got through to the top 20 in the UK, for the fly-offs in Surrey in April. I'm pretty excited, but bloody hell am I nervous. Nothing I've ever had any part in has won anything, or been successful. I'm really fucking proud of this!
If I'm truly honest, I never thought a couple of tubes of cardboard, some fins and 3 charges that could blow your arm off would get off the ground without explosions (you would understand what I meant if you knew me and two of the other team members well enough), nevermind reach the 750 feet required for a qualification and then pass it, with our flight reaching 777 feet.
There's been some trials, like our first prototype failing, and losing our second one. But heck, we're through and I'm excited!
There's a trip to Virginia in it for the winners, and let's be honest here, our team is pretty fucking awesome.
So, let's hope the rocket wins.
And here is a suitably geeky picture from the school website of me at a chemistry lecture. Of course I was the volunteer.
Yes that's me in the middle. (y) There's no need to be jealous LOL
