Jat Airways (JU) decided to ground one third of its fleet, as it is unable to secure cash for continuous operation.
CEO Sasha Vlaisavljevic also confirmed that half of representative offices abroad will very soon be closed, catering will be downgraded and the Serbian government will be asked to step in and help the troubled airline.
Jat Airways will from October fly with only 6 B737 and 3 ATR72, while during the busy summer holiday season the airline was using 15 aircraft.
Serbian governemt offered 51% of Jat Airways for sale in July, but there is still no information on whether anyone is interested in acquiring the troubled Serbian flag carrier.
