HP7.2 reports [quiknotes version]

Jul 11, 2011 22:54

So today I ventured forth to the final NYC Harry Potter premiere and said goodbye to my childhood.

Or, at least I tried to.
  • Got there at 8:30am-ish, having learned from experience after 10 is Bad
  • However, this time that backfired and it was already jam packed
  • We were located on the island that splits Broadway and 7th, directly in front of the main staircase of Lincoln Center
  • Wasn't too thrilled with this, seeing how there was practically a lot more of us compared to space on the island
  • Around 11 they moved the barricades further out causing a stampede and everyone pretty much sardining together for the rest of the time there
  • Did I mention that we were under direct sunlight and there was Absolutely No Shade? And the humidity was through the roof?
  • Nothing really interesting happens between 11-4:45 other than me guzzling three bottles of water, and wasting $6 on two of them and nearly passing out a few times from the heat and having panic attacks from being unable to breath.
  • Everyone starts showing up \o/
  • No one comes across the street except Tom and Matt
  • Neither venture towards my whole section
  • Then they all vanish off onto the red carpet
  • ...Did I mention we were across the street and the amount of things we could see was pretty much nothing? They had a giant screen up on the building and they didn't even use it.
  • Get frustrated around 6:30 and pretty much leave in a annoyed shuffle-of-ow
  • /discover I burned and I burned bad. Cue more annoyance
After the amazing that was the London premiere I feel like NYC's was a complete waste of everyone's time. There was absolutely nothing about today that made it worth it. Way to go guys :|

I think what upsets me the most though is that this isn't the first time something like this has happened. The last three were pretty much the same thing that we stand and stand and stand out there for hours and they drag the stars off to do press stuff before they can even properly turn around and say hi. And if they do autographs and such it's usually for a very small section and you were pretty much lucky if they came to your section. :|a
