Emotions version 1.0
I actually haven't written anything new the last couple of days and it's bugging me. Too many decisions regarding the new house and this little brain is fried. Thankfully I don't have to decide on paint or I'd have random colors (Hyuuga lavender, Kiba red) all over the place.
“You have a date?” Sakura raised her head to see Kakashi leaning over the front of her desk, hands braced far apart on the wooden surface.
"Hm?”
“You have a date.”
“Ah, yeah. With St Simon.” She went back to checking off the list in front of her, not giving him the satisfaction of knowing he had startled her.
“St. Simon?” He tapped the file she was marking to focus her attention back to him.
“Chuunin Proctor, brown hair. Iwashi's friend?”
“That describes a lot of chuunin.”
“Hijiri Shimon? Works for Ibiki?”
“Why him?”
“Should I have said yes to Tobitake Tombo?” At his questioning eyebrow raise she added, “Bandages from the top of his head to his nose. Smokes?”
“Did you think that maybe I'd like to know?” Kakashi's eye narrowed a bit in irritation.
“Why? We had dinner, you asked if I was going to be around. I was. You, however, were not.”
“Mission, Sakura. I had a mission.”
“That you asked for Kakashi. A six month mission that you went to Tsunade-shishou and requested just days after...would you even call it a first date?” Sakura asked pointedly.
“...”
“No comment? Think about it then. You should go. Shimon will be here shortly.”
“He's picking you up at work?”
“Why not? Want him to pick me up at my flat?” Kakashi glared and pulled at his hitai-ate.
“You're mad at me.”
“No,” Sakura shook her head. “No, I'm not. I realized months ago that I had to lower my expectations regardless of what was said.”
She watched him from the corner of her eyes as he mulled over options and set them aside. His thoughts were so fast, the emotions they left, fleeting.
Sakura straightened her desk, stood up, and opened her mouth to verbally push him out the door. There was a knock and she snapped her jaw closed. They looked at each other, knowing who was standing outside.
“Sakura.”
“Kakashi?”
Sighing, Sakura maneuvered around him to open the door, having decided that he wouldn't say anything else. Her hand touched the handle and it was deja vu. He stood behind her, one hand above her head and the other stopping her from turning the nob.
“Please don't.”
“Why?”
“I'm sorry.”
"Do you even know why you are sorry?"
Her face turned stony as the minutes passed and Kakashi did not answer. Sakura elbowed him in the chest, forcing Kakashi to back up. The was no malice in the act, simply an need for personal space. Shimon knocked a second time. Opening the door she smiled and nodded at her date before glancing back at the man standing forlornly in her office.
“Prove to me that you meant what you said.”
All the characters are true Naruto characters. Iwashi, Tombo, and Shimon show up for the 1st part of the chuunin test. And of course, my two favs (even before Kakashi) Izumo and Kotetsu were in that particular episode too.
And one totally random thing: Can anyone suggest some good techno? I've got a lot but am beginning to get bored with it. It can be rave, industrial, goth, trance etc (foreign works too)
