A/N: Haaaaappy birthday dear Holly~!
"But it's Valentine's Day." Minseok sets the sack of groceries on the counter and unpacks a bag of tomatoes and tip of ricotta cheese.
"But it's Saturday!" Takaki has the phone in his hand, all ready to dial for their monthly order of sashimi. They get a discount if they order directly from the fish market a few days in advance, and it doesn't hurt that Takaki's friend Chinen is a bulk seafood distributor who is invited to every Sushi Saturday get together.
"I know," Minseok says, "but Saturday comes four times every month and Valentine's--"
"Only comes once a year! So we might as well celebrate with delicious seafood and all of our loved ones around our table." Takaki flaps his arms in demonstrative affection, and nearly sends a package of dry lasagna noodles flying into the sink.
"How about celebrating with just one loved one," Minseok counters, peeking over the open fridge door as he rearranges the produce, "me."
"But--!"
"Just reschedule for next weekend." Minseok opens the vegetable crisper and slides the celery and zucchini over to make room for the tomatoes. He usually keeps them in a small basket on the dining room side table, next to the bananas, but he doesn't want them to ripen too fast.
Next he scoots the mayo over to make room in the door for the cheese, but he shoves it too hard and it knocks into the maple syrup bottle with a sharp clink. Minseok bites his tongue, annoyed that he's letting himself get annoyed over something as commercialized and petty as a romantic holiday, but he is annoyed. He expected Takaki to know better than to make plans on Valentine's.
"But what am I gonna tell the guys?" Takaki shuffles his bunny slippers against the linoleum as Minseok gets up from the floor. "We've already had to put it off for two months, between Christmas and holiday stuff, and Hikaru and Jongin's wedding."
"And another week should hardly make a difference, then." Minseok takes a quick peek in the freezer, contemplating what they should have for dinner. Technically it's Takaki's turn to cook tonight, but he'll probably take his sweet time deciding on a menu and locating all the right ingredients if he's left to his own devices, and Minseok is already feeling hunger pains invading his stomach.
"Ok, I'm sorry."
Minseok isn't prepared for Takaki's arms to wrap him into a clingy backhug, his chin settling into a familiar dip in Minseok's shoulder as he holds him close.
"I didn't know it meant that much to you. Sorry for not asking first."
"It's ok," Minseok whispers, turning his head to nuzzle his boyfriend's cheek. "It's not...I'm not really mad, you know."
"I know," Takaki hums, and his side bangs brush across Minseok's temple as they let the freezer door wing shut. "But still. We can do whatever you like this weekend."
"How about dinner out?" Minseok pats Takaki's hands tucked over his waist in suggestion. "Because I think we're both burned out on cooking."
"Perfect!" Takaki says, and kicks over the other bag of groceries waiting to be stacked on the pantry shelves. "But is it ok if we go out for sushi?"
"You and your one track mind!" Minseok giggles as he wriggles free from Takaki's embrace. He regrets it instantly when the cold air released from the freezer rushes in to replace Takaki's warm breath at the nape of his neck, but they really do need to finish cleaning up the kitchen even if they order pizza for the rest of the week.
"You don't seem to mind my excellent focus in the bedroom." Takaki's brows arch as his eyes narrow, and he blinks them rapidly at Minseok.
"Yuya, come here!" Minseok laughs as he reaches up to cup Takaki's chin and wipes the pouty glare from his face with a quick kiss. "Just because I commented on it doesn't mean I was complaining."
"Yeah, yeah, sure," Takaki grumbles, but he lets Minseok kiss him again, and maybe a third time as he boosts Minseok onto the kitchen counter to snuggle into his soft sweater. "But, sushi? Can we? Please?"
"Hey!" Minseok squirms away, almost knocking over the kitchen mixer with his elbow when Takaki jabs him repeatedly in the stomach and ribs. "As long as you only have eyes for me, I'd eat anything at our table for two."
(And then maybe they kiss again, but just one more time. Maybe.)
