So today we did London! We went to bed last night around 2am due to catching up on the internets and then I got woken up twice around 5am by INCORRECT NUMBERS WTF. Wasn't too happy. Was then woken by a goddamned fire alarm at 8am. After trundling downstairs in my pjs, it was just easier to get up. So we did and caught the bus and train into town. Damn it takes a long time. We got out at Piccadilly Circus and went for a walk in search of breakfast. Somehow though, we actually found Buckingham Palace and watched (well, as much as we could with a few thousand people there) the changing of the guard. Very cool. Thought about hanging around to catch a glimpse of the Queen as she headed out to Royal Ascot but as we didn't know when she'd be leaving, we decided against it.
From there, we headed towards the Thames, taking many pictures as we went and having a looksee at all the famous buildings. We still hadn't had breakfast at this point, so we stopped on the bridge across from the Houses of Parliament and grabbed a hotdog each and a small bottle of water. What. The. Fuck. Worst hotdog ever, warm water and it cost a freaken 10 quid! Absolutely terrible!
Continued along however and I queued up for our tickets on the London Eye. It actually took longer to get the tickets than it did to queue and then ride the eye. Honestly.
The flight was quite good though a little boring as it takes about half an hour but that's okay. Got some great photos, even a few of buildings I had no idea about but decided that they were pretty.
From there, we popped into another train station and popped back to Oxford St where we were yesterday as it was basically familliar territory. Grabbed a pasty then went for a wander. We thought we'd catch a screening of Transformers 2 but good lord. Cinemas don't look like cinemas here! And the locals we asked for directions seemed to be getting cinemas confused for theaters. Oh well. We eventually found one but once we saw that it wasn't showing the movie we gave up. It did take us over an hour just to find that one after all.
So we popped into a Starbucks for a drink (I am no longer a Starbucks virgin!) and then into Borders to see if they had any books for me to buy. Unfortunately not though.
From there we (finally good lord..) found Games Workshop so that Craig could buy some Space Marines to keep us occupied on the boat for the next week. That's a point, it's highly unlikely we'll have any kind of access for the next week. Damn boats and not having net access...!
So anyway, after we went to games workshop, we just came home. We'd been walking around for about 6 hours at that point and had had enough. We are coming back here afterall.
Went out for dinner to another pub though this one was discustingly over priced but the food was decent. I'll post again in another half hour or so with a link to the photos that I've taken so far this trip. Edit: Actually, I can't right now due to photobucket being down. Will do what I can later one.
