(no subject)
So. Driving to Keziah and Coxy's house for a game of Singstar or nine or ten and an undercover cop car pulls me over. Okay, no worries, probably just the missing back P-Plate that fell off a couple of months ago.
"So who are you?"
"Erm, I'm Amanda and this is Craig..."
"Can I see your licence please?"
"Oh sure, one sec.. ... here you go"
"Do you know that you're driving on a suspended licence?"
"A What?!"
"It's been suspended for over a year.. over two in fact"
"But I've only had it a year and a half and I paid for the renewal about 6 months ago"
"Have you got any unpaid fines?"
"Ah, no! I've never had any"
"No speeding tickets?"
"No, I've never been pulled over before!"
"So we haven't pulled you over... any train tickets?"
"No, never!"
"Parking fines?"
"Not that I know of!"
"Okay... well it says here your licence was suspended early 2006."
"I only got it in August 2007... how does that work? Do you happen to have any more information I can work with?"
"Give me a moment........"
(To Craig: "Wtf?")
"We don't have any information on the database other than the dates." (Hands Card) "I've written you a case number, give this phone number a call and quote the number and they'll give you all the information. Do you have a licence? (to Craig)"
"Ah yeah."
He nodded then and went on his way. All in all both Policemen were very polite and kind about the whole situation. I suppose I was very clearly hell confused. I mean, really, I've never recieved so much as a warning from a Policeperson let alone any kind of fine in writing.
We got to the Dreavers and Cerise suggested it was perhaps something to do with missing an election because Tamlyn had something similar a couple of years back so I'm thinking that might be it. But I went to the website to check any unpaid fines that are linked to my licence and no dice.
So I'm a little bit confused at the moment. Shall attempt to get through to this number on Saturday and Monday public holiday. If no luck, I guess I'll call my boss and let her know what's going on so I can work on it Tuesday morning.
Terrible timing... I have a lot planned this weekend that kind of require me to have a car. If it was last weekend, it probably wouldn't have been a problem!
Anyway lesson tomorrow, so I'm going to bed
