White Day!

I'm probably going to be crucified for making this post, but I'm gonna do it anyway.

Today is officially White Day in Korea. For those of you that don't know, Valentine's Day is celebrated a little differently in Korea (as well as Japan), where girls give boys gifts. On White Day, the boys give girls bigger, nicer gifts to show their appreciation. Korea also has Black Day for single people, but that's not for another month.

Anyways, Wil decided to give me a nice surprise this morning. He had apparently planned for me to be woken up by this surprise, but it's kind of hard to plant any sort of secret surprise when your target is up and awake at 4 in the morning. Since that fell through, he just told me to shove my face into a pillow and not move until he said so.

After what felt like forever, "I'll Cover You" from the musical Rent started blasting through the speakers. Here's hoping it didn't wake the neighbors. To add a little back story, Wil and I LOVE Rent and we have absolutely no idea why. It's so much of everything we hate combined with random things we love. We're an odd pair.

I looked over at my desk and saw that it was covered in Hershey's Kisses (yay chocolate!) and a gorgeous rose. The reason for the kisses? They were inspired by these lines from the song that was playing:

Live in my house, I'll be your shelter.
Just pay me back with one thousand kisses.

Definitely an interesting and cheesy way to ask for rent. What makes the whole thing so much more special is that Wil hates surprises and ultra corny stuff (or so he says), but he does it anyway because I not-so-secretly love it.

To top this wonderful surprise off, I'm also being taken to watch Nanta live right here in Gwangju. I've never seen it before, but it's apparently super awesome. Nothing quite like watching people cook and act silly on stage. I've been wanting to see it ever since I first came to Korea, so I'm pretty excited.

Anyways, back to work for me. Just figured I'd put a little something special in the archives so I can look back and gush over how amazing my guy is. It's hard to believe that we'll be going onto year 7 of this relationship soon. I definitely look forward to it.
