My flatmate earns money {also} by tutoring English-speakers. She teaches them Hebrew and is basically their main source of knowledge about Living Like an Israeli, what with the American-ghetto we've got going here.
{This is the place where I note on my growing aversion to American accents, and that by the time I graduate, I'll be very knowledgeable on the workings of the Like. I've been here a year and a half and I already have a rudimentary clue about how it works, linguistically. My remaining two and half years should make everything, like, crystal clear.}
So.
One of them asked her how to clean her room's floor. Y'know, mopping. Because you'd never, ever find A Real Mop in Israel.
So how do we clean floors? Let's just say it involves tile floor, a squeegee, a floor rag, bucket and water. The rag, by the way, is optional, and nonexistent in the IDF.
