Day Twenty Nine - Hopes, dreams and plans for the next 365 days
So, nearly a month ago I started this blog project with a rambling trip to nowhere about Amanda Palmer. Incidentally, I found my list of Hopes and Plans for 2010 a few weeks ago, and 'Discover New Music' was listed at the top, with a brief tale of how I had just discovered how amazing 'Leeds United' was (the song, not the football team).
Onto the list of things to do this year (by no means an inclusive list...)
- Pass Year One of university. I'll need to get some work done, but I'm hoping I can manage this one.
- Read 25 books (this one's tied into my Goodreads Challange). On a related Goodreads note, I posted a review a while ago, stating my love for a book but that I'd found a mistake (horizontal/vertical mix-up) rather jarring. I'd forgotten about it, and then THE AUTHOR actually commented, which was strange. Yeah....
- Write more. Write a diary entry every day, and finish my original novel big bang. I've been writing a diary nearly every day since April 2010, when I decided that my collection of notebooks was silly and I needed to write in them. Unfortuately, instead of just using up the notebooks I already own, I went out and bought new ones each time I filled a book (I'm currently on book 4, a large, comic-book themed monstrosity that's filled with rambles and Guitar Hero stickers). But I've started writing my Big Bang, and it's not looking too bad. I've got villians (or, sort-of villains) and conflict and unrequited love and a strange obsession with describing shoes...
- Keep in touch with friends. I don't see them often enough - I go to the cinema once in a while, and to the pub if I've got time, but I don't see my friends anywhere near as much as I should. The same with new uni friends - I see them in lectures, and in breaks, but that's it. I should probably get more of a social life.
- Talk to people, be it in real life or over the internet. I'm such a shy loser sometimes - I need to just talk to people: leave comments on stories, sign up to discussions, just talk in general. I'll get there, one day. Until then, I'll probably spend all my free time in lectures checking Facebook on my phone like a loser. (Though I have no credit, so that plan might go out of the window).
- I should probably get a job, even if it's just over the summer or something. I don't want to be one of these people that spends god knows how many months staring at Jeremy Kyle or something; I actually want to do something, preferably something with writing rather than talking. Or, you know, I could just keep writing stories and hope that one day, someone out there might publish what I write. I don't know.
- Keep on with driving lessons. I'm not an awesome driver, but I'm trying (and if I say so myself, I think my driving's got better since I stopped caring... at first, I was too obsessed with doing everything right and therefore beat myself up when I did little things wrong, which made me even worse. Now, I get in the car, talk for an hour about nothing, and manage to drive okay. Also, it helps if I've got a song stuck in my head - anything from the entirity of 'Na Na Na' to one flipping line from 'But It's Better If You Do' - peach and lime daiquiri... peach and lime daiquiri... peach and lime daiquiri ad nausium)
I shall stop rambling now, and look at what I need to get done for today's lecture.
