Thing I Made Thursday, one day early! To make up for all the days-late posts!
Serenity was awfully secretive about her name. She wouldn't give me anything, and then she gave me that, and I was like, "So simple? Okay!" What the pony wants, the pony gets.
She was a gift for
brightlotusmoon. She arrived at her new home today, and now I can post pics!
She was made from a G3
Blue Mist who had awful hair and lots of symbol and glitter rubs, and some glue drips, but was otherwise in pretty great shape. This is only the first or second time I've used the pony's base color without repainting.
I'm very happy with how she came out. I think she's right up there in the running for cutest of all the ones I've made.
She was rehaired, as always, in Dollyhair Nylon. The colors are Virgin Snow and Lemon Drop. She was repainted in acrylics and sealed with Testor's Dullcote.
I love her eyes:
They remind me of fireflies in the evening. Again, there is no black anywhere on this pony. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this.
I mostly freehanded her swirly white designs, and I'm proud of that. The little lotus bud blaze on her nose is total cuteness. Anything you paint on a pony nose becomes adorable, instantly.
This is her non-display side. I wanted her markings to look like water swirling, and I wanted her hair to evoke the white and gold sparkle of sunlight on clean water. I thought about putting green or blue in her hair, and I even thought about making her hair black, but nothing else fit her personality, which is so radiant.
Oh, yes . . . she also has a really, really adorable bottom.
I mean seriously, folks, she is so pretty it kinda hurts.
Sunbeam was one of my favorite ponies from the original G1 line, and Serenity's coloration really reminds me of hers.
Her cutie mark is a white lotus and some cattails. I say, as though it were not totally obvious.
The mirror is her stand. I picked it up at Michaels, and it's just so perfect for her.
Her butt again.
She has a very tranquil yet cheerful expression. I credit the sculpt more than anything. This particular pose is just so lovely.
I've used it before, twice. Once for
Amor Volat and once for
Madame Swallowtail, both of whom are much more like one another than like Serenity!
She just has the most wonderful, peaceful, loving feel about her. I realize I am probably getting gag-inducing, but it's the truth. Look at this little face and tell me she doesn't melt your heart:
It's hard to see, unfortunately, in the pictures, but I did something new with her. Using Pearl-Ex powders, I gave her blush on both cheeks and a little bit on her nose. I also took gold Pearl-Ex and went up over her eyebrow ridges so she has a little bit of shimmer above the painted eyeshadow. The effect is subtle, but in person it gives her this lovely glow. I am definitely using this technique again.
I absolutely adore her, and I know her new best friend will adore her, too.
