The disability thing: I'm not getting as much money as I think I should be, but I'm getting an amount we can maybe work with, and possibly increase.  I still don't really want to talk about it or hear horror stories or even hear "It'll be really hard but eventually they'll give you what you want."  I honestly don't have the energy for "really hard ( Read more... )

ashbet speaks words of wisdom. As someone on SSI and SSDI, once you have it, it is really hard for them to kick you off. And do look into what else you can get. I do know that, if they have you on SSI, you /have/ to be on Medicare unless you can show that you're on a better insurance. Considering that I was on GradMed for insurance, I was very grateful for this.

Also, are they factoring Sargon's income? That could be another reason that it's not up at the full amount. Just, if you have a change of lifestyle, tell them. Especially if you go over the x amount you earn a month before they start deducting. So, for me, if I ever get a job again (not likely in this market and degree and so on), I do have to call in and tell them. It's a hassle, but it is a lot easier than paying them back. I made a mistake of not declaring a job on SSDI and I had to pay back money. Eep. However, they couldn't kick me off for that because I did pay them back.

(((hugs))) I know that I don't usually comment about the books stuff, but I am mentally cheering for you when I hear about them.
