Vintage-tattoo-flash-inspired pirate treasure box is available on Etsy. Lord, you guys, this one's pretty. I so wasn't expecting to like it this much.
This is the one
I was talking about earlier, that's a departure from my usual style. It was fun. Because of the roses and the tattoo-like style, this one has a kind of romance to it I find rather adorable.
Detail of the side. Love this shot!
The banner across the front (which I really need to get a clearer picture of) says "Give Nothing Back." Or "Give Back Nothing," depending on how you read it. But it's supposed to be the former.
The restraining ribbons have really kicked it up a notch. They look so sharp. Tangentially related, I have discovered that holy shit
I fucking love ribbon. I have a row of ribbon spools arranged by color, and it's one of those weirdly pleasing things that make me happy to be in my studio.
Side view, uncropped version of the first pic. Those are fake roses. I darkened them even more, and seared the petals and leaves here and there so they'd pucker and look less perfect. I wanted them to look good on camera, and I think they do. They don't necessarily look real, but they don't look offensively fake, either. I don't feel bad about them. Plus: reusable! And with Photoshop, they can be any friggin' color I want. Next time you see them, they'll be blue.
Now, if I'd known when I started this thing that it was going to be this festooned with roses, I would have put some roses on the front, under the skull. You will be pleased to know that I have remedied this with the one I'm working on now, that has blue roses. That one should be up for show and tell next week.
Pretty!
One thing I do like about taking pictures is that I get to play with pretty, pretty props.
Awww, so pretty!
Again, these turned out more yellowy than I would have liked, but I think they look okay overall. Verdict: proud.
Again,
it's available on Etsy! If you feel like tweeting it or liking it on Facebook, please do. Even if folks don't have the money to buy it, they favorite stuff, put stuff in treasuries, and fave my store, and all together that's a huge boost to exposure.
In other news, I think my new artistic motto is just going to have to be "Not cheap, wasn't easy." Whatever that is in Latin.
