Jesus God. It's fine if you come onto my favorite obscure answers community wanting to pester us about medieval hats/falconry/cooking/architecture/medicine. Ask away! But for the love of all that's footnoted, and for the sake of my fragile sanity, do not ask about diseases/food/brothels/inheritance customs/punishments for bestiality "in ancient ( Read more... )

If my quarter falls and begins to roll under the vending machine, I will lose it. If the written response to that is "You will loose your quarter if you don't catch it quickly," I will totally lose it and let loose the hounds to ravage (not ravish) said foe of the English language.

This.

It never fails to make me twitch.

And Naamah... Thank you. The recent bout of Ancient Times Shenanigans in LD drives me crazy, and I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Contrariwise, "We ship bulk containers and lose cargo all over the world" implies that I should stay away from you when it comes to selecting a shipping contractor.

Well, it's not all that often one sees a beach crab about to partake of what appears to be a soda. I just kind of assumed there was some joke or pun behind it. I'm glad there wasn't, 'cause that would be a valid reason for me not getting it. :)

I say that "loosing the hounds" and "losing the hounds" are very different, although if your hounds are badly trained, "loosing" them may lead to "losing" them.

I also joy in using "penultimate" correctly, in that it's not The VERY MOST ULTIMATE!!! but is, instead, the not quite as ultimate as all that.
