This is just tremendously depressing to me. And
this. I don't understand why people think bullying is just part of life. Everyone experiences being pushed around, but the way we as a culture just accept this kind of thing to the point that children are committing suicide because of it . . . that's sick.

I played football my freshman year of high school. I'd guess I was probably third string or worse. The other guys on the team would always rearrange the line so that I was consistently matched up against the biggest, strongest, meanest guy on the team. The one who ended up with the other team's paint on his helmet every game. Every single time, I'd rush him, he'd rush me, and I'd end up flattened. Just laid out.
And every single time, I got back up. I got back in line. And I rushed him again. No complaints, no arguments, I just did it because that's what I was supposed to do.
I found out a couple years later that apparently the other guys on the team were amazed by that. They were all afraid of the guy, but I never flinched and never backed down. Even though I lost every time, I still earned a lot of respect simply because I endured. That, and by the time the season was over, I was friends with the biggest, strongest, meanest guy on the team.
