Pirate Bling Boxes

Jun 19, 2007 01:37

Oh my goodness! What's this?

Two perfectly dreadful miniature pirate boxes in day-glo colors, festooned with rhinestones like barnacles!

These be Pink Eye and Green Meanie, and they're my latest nightmarish addition to the collection at chez Naamah.

What are they full of?

Treasure!

No, wait:

Snakes!

Green Meanie thinks love is wasted on the living.

The heart and crossbones tell you that Pink Eye thinks love is dangerous.

Pink Eye and a bottle of BPAL's Pink Moon, which is even cuter.

I hadn't seen the art for the bottle before I did this box, so it was a fun surprise.

The side of Green Meanie. Yes, greenjeanz, this is the one I was thinking of you while I was painting. It's the color. I bought day-glo green paint and thought of you.

Color aside, you can see they're otherwise identical. They're tiny, about 3" x 2" -- very small. Which makes them squealingly cute in person.

I envision them as part of a family. Pink Eye is the big sister, Green Meanie is the baby. The third, which I may complete in time for the convention, is definitely male, and is called Yellowjacket. I like him.

Some of you mentioned that my application of acrylic rhinestones on the red phoenix box was "tasteful," so I wanted to post this to prove that I'm not, in fact, tasteful all the time. Sometimes you just have to rhinestone things to crazy-go-nuts and back. These were really fun.

The bottom! Smiling skulls are cute!

These two will be for sale at Conestoga 11, and will get eBayed afterward if they don't sell straight off. I had a lot of fun doing them, and hope to do more, to get the rhinestone thing out of my system if for no other reason!

Fun!
