Hives.

Yeah. Why don't I update you all and tell you why I haven't been around for days and days?

I've been working my ass off.

Starting last Friday (perfect fucking timing) Sargon and I spent the weekend in and out of urgent care trying to deal with a minor but agonizing problem - his, not mine.* So I've been doing all the chores, including a shitload of yardwork we had scheduled for this week while we have the flatbed trailer to haul dead branches away.

The yard seriously looks like some godforsaken stretch of upland Venusian jungle, complete with mosquitoes like flying Chihuahuas, so I've been steadily hacking away at it every day. The carnage is immense. A LeBaron-sized pile of brush is sitting in my backyard right now waiting for me to haul it off. I'm up to two trailer-loads full, and that's doing all the cutting, hauling, and piling by myself. In addition to murdering many small trees, I've been hacking down tons of alien-looking blossoming vine things. It really pisses off the local bees when I do this, so I've gotten very good at dodging them.

I've also been playing nursemaid to Sargon the Feeling Terrible, which is like . . . well . . . it's exactly like you'd imagine entertaining a very cranky person would be. I'm also shepherding the animals, as well as trying to work here and there where I have time.

There's been non-marital relationship drama, too, taking up what emotional slack I'd managed to achieve since Sargon started feeling better. Tact dictates I don't go into that publicly, but it's been unpleasant. I feel better about it today, but still. . . .

Oh. And there's that whole pesky "finding two hours a day to exercise so my stupid thyroid doesn't turn me into a fat cow" thing. Can't forget how much fun it is to get up at four in the morning and walk six miles. You should try it if you don't believe me.

There's also the part where my power was out for twelve hours on Monday, meaning I got nothing done at all because I can neither write nor paint when I cannot see.

Considering my workload, I have been a productive little monkey. I have still lost three or four days' worth of work, so if you're waiting on something from me, your patience is very much appreciated. It is all getting done, albeit one step at a time.

Oh. Oh. Oh. And lest I forget to mention it, today while doing yardwork I found myself standing in a patch of half-grown poison ivy. I washed myself within fifteen minutes, and I never touched my skin anywhere but once on my side, but I'm still afraid I'll end up rashy and gross all over. JUST what I need! Hives are so sexy. I'm nuking my clothes in the washer as we speak, but the leather gardening gloves may be a loss.

I have a backlog of cool, fun stuff to share with you, including silly anecdotes, pictures of a high school straight out of the Buffyverse, and a shiny new perfume box (as well as those pesky BPAL reviews), but right now my 'net access is a little haphazard. I'm trying to shoehorn in some LJ time every day, and I'll try to fit updates into that as I can.

In the meantime, I'm off to entertain my husband some more, paint a bit, and nurse some sore muscles. Also: I'm sort of hoping I don't get hives. Fun times.

* Yes, he's more or less fine now. No, I'm not giving you details; it's not my issue to discuss. Don't pester, okay?

health, sargon
