Heh. I blame the growth hormones in milk and beef.

"Well hello gorgeous, you look like you've been around the block a bit -"

"I'm nine."

I KNOW.

I had boobs at 10-11, I was technically breedable at 12-13, but I'm seeing girls at, like, 9 years old who look identifiably cute, and that's so disturbing I want to plunge forks into my eyes just THINKING about it.

I also blame what clothes parents are buying them.

. . .

If it were growth hormones, wouldn't it make boys look older, too? Boys still look way too young until they're around 16-17.

Wait. It's gotta be the estrogens in meat. Disturbing.

oh, good, I'm not the only one. whew. I was beginning to think I was some really sick, fucked up pervert here. (Oh wait.)

Jah. Tell me about it. I see nine and ten year olds wearing clothes my parents would've tanned my hide for wearing at fifteen... much less nine or ten. Jeez. What's worse is when you see these kids strutting around shaking their asses like they know what they're doing. Fucking disturbing.

I'd wager that in today's society, most of them probably do know what they're doing.

I know. And that's what's even MORE disturbing. I mean, for fuck's sake, when I was nine, I could've cared less about wearing clothes like that. Granted, I was far too busy writing about cats and aliens to worry about a silly thing like boys.

*thinks* then again, I didn't really realise I wasn't straight even though I was more interested in my girl-friends than guys ... um. Gonna shut my mouth now.

I will stand in front of God, a judge, three schoolteachers, a jury of dominatrixes, and my parents, and SWEAR on every book I have ever read, that I did not discover I was Really Really Interested in boys until I was 25.

At ten? Really wasn't all that excited.

I would've married Dangermouse, though. I'm just sayin'.

LOL.

Yeah, never have really been interested in guys. Didn't quite realise to what degree (as a general rule... there are a few exceptions) till after I got together with Morgan. Should've put 2 + 2 together earlier, considering my attitude towards males has pretty much been "Eh. Whatever."

And I'm glad to know I'm not the only kid who had crushes on cartoon characters. ^_^

I fall in love with people, not genders.

(I met him when I was 14.)

There are few things as unsettling as finding yourself, at the age of 12, hoarding Sears catalogs to... read the underwear ads and not understanding why. Especially when you've grown up in a very machismo-laden neighborhood with zero exposure to teh_ghey or teh_bi at all. Bit of a shock when I found out what "lesbian" meant. Then I hit high school and had to be very fucking careful not to drool too obviously over the drill team. Then I left South Houston for college in Austin, the most liberal, tree-hugging, free-love place I could've gone and it was like getting hit between the eyes with a 2x4 of enlightenment.

"THIS is why you like both guys and girls, nitwit!"

That's funny. At age 12 *I* used to read the Sears underwear ads too!

But I knew perfectly why-- I liked the women. What can I say? I was smitten by my first love in 1st grade by a cutie named Julia, by another cutie named Trina in 2nd grade, and I've loved women ever since. (Does that make me an early bloomer, or just weird?)

If I was a woman, I'd probably still like women. Female bodies are so beautiful with their lovely curves. As are their personalities (warm, caring, emotional). Most men disgust me with their sporting addictions and hairy bodies and pseudo-macho attitude. Ick.

So yeah, we had something in common-- both enjoying the Sears female models. ;-)
