I cleaned and rearranged my work area the other day, and in the process I raked over several years' worth of accumulated papers and odd notes. I am still puzzling over the meaning of a piece of paper I found. At the top, in my handwriting, it said:
"Pee-drinking: WHY?"
It's the implications that have me returning to it over and over.
I'm guessing the page was about two years old, based on the layer in which I found it. It wasn't a hastily scribbled note. I kept it through several cleanings. It must have been important at some point. And the phrasing of the question is peculiarly pointed and provocative, as though I really wanted to know why pee-drinking.
Why pee-drinking what?
We may never know.
People, if I am ever diagnosed as insane, let it never be said there were not heralds of the apocalypse.
