Poker, Fire

Czar and I went to Jim's this evening to hang out, ended up watching "Gigantic," the They Might Be Giants documentary. That was cool. So we came home around, say, 9:30ish, figured I was in for the night. About twenty minutes later, I'm lying in bed talking on the phone and Jimmy just walks into my bedroom, informs me that he has a case of beer and we're playing poker. I ended up getting shot down early with my initial $5 stake, so I bought back in and ended the night with $13.
True to form, Jimmy chooses this time to show up and tell us there's a fire two buildings down. Faced with the decision of tastefully letting the authorities handle the situation and gawking like a bunch of action-starved hicks, we naturally went with the gawking. Luckily, we were not alone in our gouche behavior. Practically the whole population of Bloomsburg* turned out to watch for possible carnage. While the actual fire was not visible from outside, I think it'd be safe to say I've never seen quite that much smoke billowing from such a relatively small place - looked like the whole building must've been full of paper or something. After a good, respectable gawk, I decided to call it a night and came home.
