Red burn the taillights, oh!

I'll sing you one - oh!
Red burn the taillights - oh!

What is your one - oh!
One's for the M6 Motorway that goes from North to South - oh!

I'll sing you two - oh!
Red burn the taillights - oh!

What are your two - oh!
Two's for the carriage ways one in each direction - oh!
and one's for the M6 Motorway that goes from North to South - oh!

I'll sing you three - oh!
Red burn the taillights - oh!

What are your three - oh!
Three, three the northbound lanes,
two for the carriage ways one in each direction - oh!
and one's for the M6 Motorway that goes from North to South - oh!

We went for a trip out today, Parrot Knight, The Marquis and I. We drove down the scenic route into the Lake District and had a look at Castlerigg Stonecircle. Then we went to Keswick and took a look around the Pencil Museum, which was quite interesting and very informative. I was particularly pleased about the discovery that the German word for pencil 'Bleistift' and the idea of a pencil 'lead' came from the mistaken belief that graphite was a kind of lead ('blacklead'). Another interesting discovery was the existence of 'War Pencils' -- these contained a map of Germany and a miniature compass and were given to RAF pilots. The numbers on the pencils were a code for the area of Germany displayed on the map.

Talking of numbers on pencils: the 'H' stands for 'hard', the 'B' for 'Black' and the origins of 'F' in the 1920s has been lost into obscurity.

After the museum visit we went for a pub lunch in a nice pub in the town centre and on the way home we made up the song :-).

On the whole it's been a good day so far.
