Like seriously, ligaradio: that's one of the best ideas ever. Since they don't show Bundesliga here up north (we do get to see Premierleague and the Swedish league + our own, of course, but NO BUNDEDLIGA *pouts*), I was more than happy to realize that apart from following the Bundesliga games with Liveticker, I could actually also listen the games live with ligaradio.
It's not the same as watching the games live (well, of course not...), because the most important aspect (i.e. the visual one) is missing, but it sure is better than nothing. I think my first experience was definitely a good one.
I'm sure there are worse ways to spend a friday night than listening to German commentary of a football game via internet, though some of my friends might disagree :). Before the game started, I was a bit worried, whether with my-not-so-fluent German skills, I would be able to follow the commentary and was positively surprised realizing that I didn't have too many difficulties understanding what was happening. I bet I will be able to listen German quite fluently after this Bundesliga season ;).
The game (FCB against Dortmund) started with full speed, FCB and Makaay having the first scoring chance after like 25 seconds--sadly he only hit the goalpost--and pretty much continued the same way for the first part of the first half. My favorite part of the commentary came a few minutes after the game had started: the commentator made a comment about Metzelder's new hairstyle. Well, I've seen a few pictures of him with that very short haircut, and I have to agree with the commentator. I'm not 100% sure what he said about it (since I didn't understand the exact word), but the basic idea was clear. He said that Metze had cut his hair and looked like "something-not-positive" at the moment. And then went on saying that Metze is such a good looking young man usually and how we should give him a couple of weeks and the hair will grow back and he will look like his old self again. I couldn't help but to giggle at that point--ah, so true!
The first major happening was at around 18 minutes, when Brazzo collided with Kehl and Kehl ended up having a flesh-wound (at least that's how I understood it, when the commentator was talking about the incident later on) and had to be substituted. *Snif* I hope it's nothing really serious and he will be able to play soon.
Then at the 24th minute FCB finally manage to score (finally, because apparently they had already had more than a fair amount of god chances). The goal was scored by Makaay after trying a double pass with Lahm (*squee* my little Lahmi). At that point those of my neighbors who haven't already realized that I'm weird, probably found that out. What I mean is that there was nothing on TV that would have explained the fact that I was squeeing in my apartment and yelling "TOOOR!". But the fact that all my neighbors now know how crazy I am, was a small prize to pay for that fun ;)...
After the first goal, the game got a bit boring. The commentator was just telling, that Dortmund really didn't create anything even remotely dangerous (or intelligent for that matter) and that playing like that was no way to score a goal against FCB.
The second half started slower than the first. The commentator was giving praise to Bayern's defense and telling that they were pretty much preventing everything the opponent was trying to do. Then at the 55th minute game the 2:0 goal. And it was Lahmi passing the ball to Schweini and the commentator noted that they were playing well together just like in the WC. And of course I had another chance to practice my German skills "TOOOOR!" Well during the second half, BVB also started to have chances to score a goal, but apparently from what I understood, Kahn was playing brilliantly.
Then around 65 minutes, Odonkor came to the field. And quite shortly after that he was battling for the ball with Lahm (the commentator said something like "what a battle that will be" referring to the fact that they are both fast--or at least that's how I understood it) and Odo ended up fouling Lahm. My first thought was: "OMG! You are not supposed to foul your Nationalmannschaft team-mate! *lol*. Well I do hope he apologized properly after-wards ;o)...
After that everything was a bit more boring, but apparently the fact that Odo came to the field did do some good to BVB, because they started to get a bit more scoring opportunities. And FCB had a few chances too, to score 3:0 goal (at least one Lahmi-shot that narrowly passed the goal and a few others), but eventually the game ended 2:0. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot: poor Poldi got to the field like 5 minutes before the game ended :(. Not nice probably, when Lahmi and Schweini were in the opening eleven and played almost the whole game through (well, Lahmi the whole game and Schweini around 85 minutes).
Right before the broadcast ended, there was an interview with Schweini. It was nice to listen to him giving praise to Lahmi about his goal. The broadcast ended in the middle of his interview, but during the part I got to hear he managed to say like 4-5 times something along the lines of "Philipp gave me an excellent pass, Philipp created the situation, it was a good build-up by Philipp..." and so on. I thought it was so cute; always remember to give as much praise as possible to your mates :).
All in all my first experience with ligaradio was more than positive. Not only because Bayern won (I was actually dreading BVB would beat the sh*t out of them, having read the results of their previous games (0:1, 0:0, 0:2, 0:3), but apparently when it's about the "real games" they start to play better), but also because there were so many Nationalmannschaft players to follow (oh, poor Kehl, I'm still worried about him, and poor Metze too, because apparently he didn't play all that well), because at least Lahmi, Schweini and Kahn played very well, because the commentary was really good (at least compared to some of the Finnish commentators I have listened to; this time it was easy to follow what was going on on the field) and because I was able to understand most of the commentary (I surprized even my self).
So this won't be the last time I'm listening to ligaradio
